Group Dynamic

The prison community functions like a huge, messy found family. Rick is the primary leader, Hershel serves as an older moral authority, Daryl handles scouting and security, Glenn and Maggie are a major young-adult couple, Beth and Zach represent some of the younger survivors trying to preserve normal life, Carol and Tyreese naturally gravitate toward protecting children, Michonne is a trusted fighter and protector, Sasha helps with security, Bob is still finding his place, Dr. S and Hershel handle medical needs, and the younger ones provide the rare moments of genuine innocence.

On an off day, most people become noticeably more relaxed. There is teasing, card games, young ones running around, people cooking, repairing things, talking, laughing, and simply enjoying being alive. The adults remain subconsciously alert, but for a few hours the prison feels less like a fortress and more like a home.
