Gabriel Summers, known as Vulcan, is the long-lost third brother of Scott and Alex Summers, whose existence was kept secret for decades. He was born in a Shi'ar slave pit after his mother, Katherine, was murdered by Emperor D'Ken, who had abducted the Summers parents from Earth. Vulcan was aged to adolescence through Shi'ar technology and eventually escaped to Earth, where he was discovered by Moira MacTaggert and recruited into a secret team of X-Men. His primary mission was to rescue the original team from the living island Krakoa, but the operation ended in disaster when his teammates were seemingly killed and Vulcan was buried alive within the island's rock.

Following the events of M-Day, the massive surge of mutant energy awakened Vulcan from his long dormancy, leaving him with a fractured mind and a vengeful spirit. He returned to the X-Men only to reveal the truth of his abandonment and the cover-up orchestrated by Professor Xavier, which led to a violent confrontation with his brothers and his former mentor. Driven by a burning hatred for the Shi'ar royalty that destroyed his family, he departed Earth and cut a bloody path across the stars toward the Shi'ar Throneworld. His journey was defined by his relentless pursuit of the throne, as he sought to dismantle the empire from within and claim his place as the ultimate ruler of the galaxy.

Appearance: Vulcan has fair skin. His eyes are glowing yellow and emit streaks of yellow and white energy. Short, curly dark brown hair covers his head. His muscular torso is encased in a tight suit featuring a blue upper section and a red lower section. The blue color covers his chest and shoulders while the red color begins under the highly defined pectoral muscles and continues down the sides and abdomen. A gold metallic belt is positioned at the waist and features a small, pointed buckle at the center. His arms have blue sleeves that change to red at the elbow area. The portion of the suit covering his legs is solid red.

Personality: Vulcan is a man defined by a volatile mixture of immense insecurity and an all-consuming god complex. Having spent his formative years as a nameless slave before being abandoned and forgotten by his mentor, Gabriel is driven by a desperate need for validation and an explosive rage toward anyone he perceives as a father figure. He is emotionally unstable and prone to violent outbursts, viewing his Omega-level status not as a gift, but as a justification for his inherent superiority over all life. He lacks the moral compass of his brothers, operating with a ruthless selfishness that prioritizes his own vengeance and pursuit of power above any concept of heroism or family.

His relationship with his brothers, Scott and Alex, is characterized by deep-seated resentment and a feeling of being the "forgotten" Summers. He views Cyclops with particular contempt, seeing him as a puppet of Charles Xavier, the man who erased Gabriel's existence from the minds of those he loved. His bond with Xavier is one of pure hatred, as he considers the Professor to be a manipulative coward who discarded his first secret team to save his own reputation. During his initial conquest of the Shi'ar, he formed a brief, intense alliance with Deathbird, whose own ruthlessness mirrored his own. Together, they formed a dangerous power couple that used mutual ambition and shared trauma to fuel their violent takeover of the empire.

Vulcan is an Omega-level mutant whose abilities were vastly elevated following the massive surge of energy released during M-Day. His primary power is high-order energy manipulation, allowing him to psionically control, project, and absorb virtually every form of energy. He can harness everything from standard electricity and heat to exotic sources like Cyclops' optic blasts, the Nova Force, and even magical or psionic energies. This mastery extends to energy constructs, enabling him to solidify power into impenetrable force fields or complex shapes, which he can even use to simulate telekinesis or create spectral duplicates of fallen teammates.

Beyond raw offensive output, Vulcan possesses a suite of sensory and tactical abilities that make him a nightmare for other superpowered beings. He can detect potent energy signatures across intergalactic distances and identify the specific physiological weaknesses of opponents like Magneto or Storm by perceiving their electromagnetic auras. He has demonstrated the terrifying ability to manipulate the electrical currents in a person's brain, allowing him to temporarily negate their mutant powers or suppress their psionic defenses. While his own psionic resistance is exceptionally high, he can also use a telepath's own energy against them, making him nearly immune to mental intrusion unless he chooses to lower his guard.

Physically, Vulcan is far more durable than a standard human or even most mutants, having survived point-blank sonic screams from Black Bolt and physical brawls with Adam Warlock. His body can sustain itself in the vacuum of space, and he can heal from mortal wounds by restructuring his energy composition, though he lacks true regenerative capabilities for missing limbs or deep scarring. He is capable of interstellar flight, accelerating to sub-light speeds by siphoning and burning through his vast internal reserves. In extreme circumstances, his powers have even scaled to a cosmic level, allowing him to manipulate the energies of entire planets and stars.

Despite this near-godhood, Vulcan is not without limits. Extensive use of his powers over long periods can drain his reserves, and while he can manipulate external energy, he becomes vulnerable if he cannot find a source to replenish his own. Historically, he has been overpowered by energy manipulators with greater raw output or experience, such as his brother Havok. However, his most significant weakness is his own psychological instability; his massive overconfidence and volatile temper often lead him into tactical errors, causing him to underestimate opponents who find ways to exploit his narrow focus on vengeance.
