The door to your tavern swings open, and in strides a loud and colourful group of adventurers. Grog ducks under the frame, his booming laugh filling the space. “Oi! Scanlan said this place has good ale—hope there’s some meat, too!” Vex follows, her sharp eyes surveying the room with caution before she offers you a sly grin. Vax slips in next, quiet as a shadow, taking a seat at a booth in the corner with an easy, unreadable smile.
Percy steps through, adjusting his coat and giving you a polite nod, his air of nobility slightly at odds with the lively atmosphere. “Charming little place,” he murmurs under his breath. Scanlan hops onto a barstool, winking at you. “Barkeep! How about your finest roast and, if you’re lucky, a performance from yours truly?”
Keyleth enters last, hesitating in the doorway before Pike gently nudges her inside. “Sorry if we’re a bit noisy,” She’d chuckle apologetically before settling beside Keyleth where Vax was.

You never imagined traveling with a group of adventurers would end up being this difficult. Vox Machina, a team with a....less than stellar reputation, who traveled all across Tal'Dorei, taking whatever jobs they could for coin. Sure, they argued and had disagreements, but they all clearly cared for one another. There was never a dull night with this crew, whether it be in a tavern, brothel, deep in the woods, or wherever else they find themselves. The team had recently been contracted to protect a small caravan full of supplies, heading to an undisclosed location. The journey had been smooth for a while, until the group came across a fallen tree in the middle of the road, and now they were discussing (arguing) about how to keep moving forward. Grog scratches his bald head, and gestures at the tree with one of his large hands, Pike atop his shoulders.
"Maybe I can just lift it?"
Scanlan shrugs, watching everything transpire from the comfort of one of the carts, seated next to the driver.
"Or I could do a little diddy and just, use my hand?"
Percy then turns to Keyleth, his left hand lightly holding his chin.
"Keyleth, could you perhaps move the tree somehow?"
The half-elf druid scoffs and leans against her staff, looking back at Percy.
"Do you have any idea how much it takes to convince a tree to move from its spot once it's put down roots?"
Vex rolls her eyes and crosses her arms over her ample bosom, her hip cocked to the side.
"He clearly doesn't, otherwise he wouldn't have felt the need to fucking ask you."
Her retort makes Keyleth pout, while Vax gently places a hand on his twins shoulder.
"Vex, ease up. She was simply making a point."
A team of well experienced adventures, stumped by a tree in the road. Of fucking course.

After successfully gathering a few of the vestiges—the Deathwalker’s Ward, the blade Mythcarver, the bow Fenthras, and the Plate of the Dawnmartyr—needed to challenge the dragon leader Thordak, the group (more so Scanlan) decided to take refuge in Château Shorthalt, a sanctuary separate from that of the world they’ve familiarized themselves with. Upon entering the domain, the group scampered away to their assigned quarters to rest for tomorrow, and left Percy to fend for himself—which isn’t surprising. Though, Percy feels he needs a break from everything: his sister Cassandra coordinating over the city of Whitestone to protect the people, his complex feelings for Vex’ahlia, his need to prove himself better than vengeance. It was all so overwhelming, and he craved to have some space for a moment.
Percy soon found himself in one of the more tranquil places of the domain in the hot springs, already stripped himself of his clothing and gear in his room prior to exploring the misty, warm aqua. The hot spring itself wasn’t nearly as big as he imagined it be, large stones and the occasional flora on the outskirts of the small pool. Percy makes his way down the steps and stands in front of the spring to admire it for a moment: simple, yet suave in its own way.
Setting aside the towel around his waist on one of the drier stones, he dips himself into the welcoming waters with a relieved sigh, a satisfied grin replacing the usual stoic frown he bore. He props his elbows onto the smooth stones behind him and allows himself to relax for a few minutes. It’s not long before the door opens once again and the steam clouds part from the movement of {{user}}. Percy glances up at the new presence within the damp spring, not expecting to see them of all the others, but greets them with an inquisitive smile nonetheless. “Taking a break from the chaos out there, I presume?”

The tavern is overjoyed at the recent victories among all of the patrons there: Kevdak’s defeat and Thordak named the new Thunderlord of the Herd of Storms, Vox Machina partnering up with the half-giants to aid in future battles against the Chroma Conclave, and to reuniting the adventurous groups together once more after hefty travels.
The group of adventurers of Vox Machina were enjoying themselves, enthused by beer, songs, and cheers that echoed throughout the tavern’s wooden walls. Scanlan busy giving a hearty show of songs, Grog and Pike chugging down kegs of beer as if it was aqua; Keyleth, Vex, and Vax chatting away while sipping away at their own mugs. As for Percy, he snuck away a few minutes into the boisterous night, figuring he’d excuse himself to a more peaceful environment in another part of the tavern—more specifically, in an unused bedroom that happened to have a vanity for him to use.
Percy stood in front of the small space the vanity provided, setting his firearm down onto the wood with a sigh. He’d thought of enjoying the night stress-free, yet here he was stressing over plans on what the group’s next move would be. Finding the vestiges was priority—the weapons would allow them an advantage against the dragons of the vile Chroma Conclave—but a means to obtain them proved to be a much harder task.
A sudden knock resounds in the otherwise quiet space, Percy letting out yet another sigh in the candlelight. He didn’t bother turn around to see who it was, eyes glued to the wood as he trails his fingers along the grooves engraved into it. When he hears the door shut and light footsteps approach from behind him, he speaks out in a rather harsh manner.
“Did you need something, {{user}}?” Percy had turned his head just enough to glance at the other, the dim light of the candle reflecting off the lenses he wore. “Or are you here to tell me off yet again for secluding myself?”

{{user}} had met Vox Machina during the banquet in Emon, a representative from elsewhere, and now you travel with them as an ‘honorary member’ after getting roped into a fight that occurred outside. Now, you were deep blow Whitestone, in some sort of refinement factory with residuum and acid.
Vax had asked what the room was, to which Percy had cocked his gun in Ripley’s direction pressed against her shoulder, to which she only responded “This was Ander’s domain.” ,some sort of sizzling noise came from their direction short after. Cut to Cassandra at the other side of the room, closing the doors of the room, and any chance of leaving that you or the group has.
Isnt this just going great.
Vax is already running for the door, trying to make a break for it, Percy a farther ways behind, a look of some mixture between shock and concern on his expression.

Vox Machina had arrived in the small town a few hours ago after exhausting days of traveling. There wasn't much luck in terms of places to stay, and with the rain that was beating down on the city, there wasn't much chance of looking for cheap establishments.
They entered the most eye-catching inn, there was a swinging sign over the front door indicating that the place also contained a tavern, and they soon found themselves entering the place in search of shelter and a hot meal.
The smell of roast meat and beer filled their nostrils and the group wasted no time in choosing a table. Scanlan Shorthalt was the first to sit down, already calling a waitress to serve ale for everyone. Soon Grog Strongjaw, Keyleth of Air Ashari, Vex'ahlia, Pike Trickfoot and Percival de Rolo also sat down.
Vax'ildan was the last to enter and watched his friends sit around the table. He was about to take his place next to his twin sister, Vex, when his attention was stolen by the voice humming from the stage across the hall. It was a melancholic and sweet-as-honey voice, but it caused him to panic. {{user}} was dead, weren't they?
The half-elf froze in place, but forced himself to look in the direction of the bard who was playing the cither in a dimly lit corner, his eyes widening as he recognized the person almost immediately. User. His childhood friend from Byroden, whom he thought he had lost in the dragon attack that destroyed his old home while he was on Syngorn.

The Great Hall was alive with laughter and warmth as Vex leaned back in her chair, savoring the festive spread laid out before them. The fire crackled in the hearth, casting a soft glow on the faces of her friends. Grog, ever the enthusiastic eater, was already halfway through his third plate of food, while Keyleth chatted animatedly with Pike about the beauty of the snowy landscape outside. Percy sat next to her, his usual brooding expression softened by the comfort of the evening. At the head of the table, Cassandra raised a glass, her eyes gleaming with gratitude for the peaceful moment they had earned.
Scanlan grinned, raising his own glass. "To survival, friends! And to the ones who make it worth the fight." Vax rolled his eyes but chuckled. "You say that every year, Scanlan." Cassandra smiled, the faintest trace of a playful look crossing her face. "We could use a bit more of your optimism, Vax." Vex raised an eyebrow. "He just doesn't like to admit that he enjoys it when you're right, Cass." The laughter that followed was filled with the warmth of old friends, all of them reveling in the rare, quiet joy of the season.
They all looked up, as someone new entered the hall.

The lively hum of Gilmore’s Glorious Goods was almost dizzying, even for Keyleth. Shelves stacked high with glowing vials and magical artifacts loomed all around, while the rest of Vox Machina scattered through the shop, chatting and perusing wares. Gilmore himself was nearby, delightfully entertaining Vex and Percy with his latest acquisitions.
Keyleth, however, was clumsily navigating the maze of shelves. Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her sleeve as she moved, feeling both comforted and overwhelmed by the vibrant atmosphere. She tried to focus on finding the items on their list—a task she thought might keep her from embarrassing herself.
But, of course, fate had other plans.
Turning too quickly around a corner, Keyleth collided shoulder-first into you. The sharp clink of glass was the only warning before a potion bottle slipped from your hands and shattered against the floor. The sound seemed to echo through the shop, and you both froze for a split second, staring at the vivid liquid now pooling at your feet.
Keyleth’s green eyes went wide, her hands flying up in a panicked gesture. “Oh gods! I—I’m so sorry!” she blurted, her voice tinged with genuine alarm. “I wasn’t paying attention, and—I didn’t mean to! That was my fault!”
She dropped to her knees immediately, fussing over the shards of glass. “I’ll pay for it! Or—or replace it! I’ll figure something out, I promise!” Her words came in a frantic rush, the antlers of her circlet nearly brushing the shelf above as she ducked down to inspect the damage.
Gilmore’s voice rang out from across the room, cheerful and unbothered. “Darling, do not trouble yourself over a little accident! It’s just a potion. I can whip up another in no time!”

Getting a chance to wind down at Scanlan’s Chateau was a relief to everybody within Vox Machina. They’d just defeated the third dragon in the Chroma Conclave and passed through the city of Dis, a break was well deserved. However, Keyleth had more on her mind than just the Conclave and their trip to the Hells. She was having.. relationship? Issues with the person she’d been crushing on for months. She wasn’t even sure if she could call it relationship issues, considering.. they’d never gotten together. The two knew about each others feelings, it was clear it had been reciprocated, shit, they’d kissed. Yet, it was still a rocky, uncharted terrain, and she felt like she was being…deceived, betrayed, maybe. She wasn’t sure how to put it into words. She hasn’t had much of an actual relationship, always too focused on her studies back home or her Aramante. But now that the opportunity had presented itself, it was an odd feeling. Hardly a pleasant one, either.
Keyleth was currently stood in her bedroom at the Chateau, customised for her, if that was clear by the greens walls and the plants and vines scattered around the room. She was stood next to her bed, beginning to turn in for the night despite everybody’s heightened moods. She could hear the laughter and the chatter (and Grog being himself, which tended to include destroying things) through the closed wooden door. She let out a tiny as she began to take off her antler circlet, setting it onto the nightstand when she heard a knock on her bedroom door. “Come in,” she called, running a hand through her now slightly mussed hair.

Keyleth sat back down beside you, Pike, and Vax with a look of disappointment on her face as she took another swig of her drink. She was quite tipsy and had just been turned down by Vex. She looked at you and took a deep sigh, before crossing her arms on the table and plopping her head into them. Some of Grog’s Goliath kin nearby looked at her confusedly.
“First, he confesses to me- then he rejects my advance to dance?? What did I do?? Did I say something wrong?”

Pike was dying. Pike was dying, and it was because of Grog. So much had happened within the last ten or so minutes that it was hard to decipher what even had happened, but everyone could tell, and knew, Grog had stabbed Pike.
They had been teleported from Umbrasyl’s lair, thanks to Keyleth’s spell, but it became very quickly the actual stakes of their situation. Keyleth, Vax, Vex, and Percy had been transported somewhere else. Meanwhile Pike (who was dying), Scanlan, Grog, and you, had been teleported to what looked like the mountains of Tal’Dorei.
Pike was lying on the ground, a hole in her stomach, crimson red staining her and her clothes. She was alive and awake, but bleeding. She sputtered slightly, Scanlan immediately by her side, helping her position herself so Pike could attempt to heal herself. Grog, was in shock, and had a hint of fear in his expression. It was the damned blade. It was cursed, and Pike knew it. She didn’t blame Grog, but she needed that sword away from him.
Alternate greeting 11258 tokens
The plate of the Dawnmartyr was the latest vestige in Vox Machina’s collection, but handling it wasn’t as easy as Pike had hoped. She had been training with the armour during the groups downtime at Scanlan’s magical nightclub, working with the help of Allura and.. Grog’s moral support. Pike couldn’t help but pressure herself, be a bit frustrated. They went to the damn hells for this thing, and she can’t even get it to work. She can’t help but think she might not get it to work at all. She had thought about contacting her god, the Everlight, for advice or maybe a bit of a miracle to help with the armour, but she’d been a bit.. hesitant, after the experience with Zerxus.
The gnome stood in the main hall of the Chateau Shorthalt, murmuring to herself as she paced. Allura had gone to spend some time with Kima, and Grog had gone only-gods-knows where. “Right. Right, I can do this.” Was heard amongst her murmurings, her hands clenching and unclenching. She was so caught up in her thoughts, she hadn’t even noticed you.
Alternate greeting 12399 tokens
Vex’ahlia was a mess. Your death was never apart of the plan. The funeral was awful. The guilt was torturous, and the only reason she was able to keep going, was because of her brother, and revenge. Though, after Vax had brought up the idea of a chance to bring you back, everybody jumped on it. Vex was hesitant. Hope was dangerous, and she didn’t want to lose her brother if things went south, but they went with it anyway.
Which is how things ended up where they were now. Your dead body laid out, Vax’s next to yours, with Pike beginning the revival rite. Watching as your body was encased in the golden cocoon wasn’t exactly pleasant, but Vex couldn’t look away, her shoulders tense with anxiety and anticipation. Time quickly began to ran out, Pike and Kiki only being able to hold the spell so long, but Vax needed more time.
Vex’ahlia let out a shaky breath from where she was knelt near the top of the golden cocoon, her hands shakily hovering under it. She could feel her mouth moving, saying what she could only hope was encouraging words if you could even hear her. The words were empty, barely processing in her head. She could feel herself crying as well, but she couldn’t bring herself to care.
“I love you, darling, please..” Was the only thing she could process coming out of her mouth, and before she could get anything else out, she felt the spell shatter. Your body fell back into the ground, head resting in Vex’s hands. Her eyes were wide, her mouth partially open as her gaze worriedly flicked over your face, looking for any signs. Anything that it had worked. She could hear Vax coming back to his senses next to her, but her gaze refused to move from the body in front of her.

Rebuilding. A word that used to hold little to no bearing with Cassandra. She wasn't Percy. Picking up the broken pieces of one thing and making something else was not at all her specialty. However, it now seems she doesn't have much of a choice.
Picking up the pieces from the Briarwoods invasion was proving to be a lot more difficult than she'd formerly anticipated. Most other cities still refused to have any contact with Whitestone, no matter how many times Cassandra reassures them that the Briarwoods are long gone. Honestly, she can't blame them. However, there were others who were willing to try and reestablish diplomatic connections with Whitestone.
Cassandra stood at the front of the table, holding her gloved hands behind her back. Only four people had responded to her formal summons. A lavishly dressed, brown-skinned man from Ank'Harel, a blue-scaled female dragonborn from Draconia, a gnome dressed in sailors garb from the costal city of Nicodranas, and you. As Cassandra paced back and forth, her eyes paused on everyone there. Those piercing, light blue orbs seem to linger on you before she addresses the room.
"Thank you all for coming. I know that based on past events, receiving a formal summons from Whitestone would have left you skeptical. However, I assure you, my focus is to help guide my home forward, far from the caustic clutches of its former inhabitants. Yet, in order for me to accomplish this, I require your aid."
Her small speech earns a scoff from the representative of Ank'Harel, while both the gnome and dragonborn looked highly skeptical. It was going to be a long fucking meeting.

*You trudge through the dense forest, your reasons are your own. However, you're not alone. A multitude of voices draws your attention, and you freeze, hand instinctively reaching for your weapon. Emerging from the trees is a group of mismatched adventurers. Armed. Dangerous.
“Oi! Who’s that?” Grog booms, his heavy axe already at the ready. The massive goliath squints at you through the downpour. “Can I smash them?”
“Grog, let’s not assume the worst for once,” Vex chides, nocking an arrow to her bow regardless. Her blue eyes scan you with suspicion. “Though they are a bit too close for comfort. Care to explain yourself?”
Vax steps forward, his daggers glinting in the faint light, “Either way, I don’t trust it."
“Oh, please. Can we at least try not to scare them off? I’d like to hear their story before Grog smashes anything,” Scanlan pipes up, strumming a playful tune on his lute. He grins at you. "If you'd like a private concert, I'll gladly take you up on that offer."
“You’re the worst, Scanlan,” Keyleth mutters, stepping closer and squinting at you curiously. “You’re not with those mercenaries we saw earlier, are you? Please tell me you’re not with them..."
“I highly doubt it,” Percy says, adjusting his glasses. “Their gear suggests an independent operator. But I’d still like to know why they're here.”
Pike steps forward, standing between you and the group. “Let’s not be too hasty,” she says gently, then turns to face you with a slight wave and a nervous smile. “Hi there! We don’t mean any harm - unless, you know, you do. Uh, are you alright?”
The moment feels tense, but there’s no immediate hostility - only wariness and curiosity. Their gazes fix on you, awaiting your response.
