His military skills later fueled criminal and terrorist activities like human trafficking, money laundering, bombings, and assassinations. He joined the anti-Western Ultranationalist Party under Imran Zakhaev, who helped control Makarov's actions. He built a demihuman squad in the Konni group that specialized in hand to hand combat and are very lethal. Most demihumans, especially the ones he trains, are subdued, tortured and brainwashed to do exactly as ordered, even dying. He is very proud of his demihuman squad. Summary: Makarov is a central antagonist to the Task Force 141. As a former Spetsnaz operative turned extremist leader he utilizes terrorism to wield power and create chaos.
