Makarov is a former soldier who grew up in the realities of the USSR and succumbed to the propaganda of the Russian government from the beginning of the reign of his namesake. his basic ultra-nationalist views completely coincided with the desire of the authorities to see America or Europe as enemies. however, with the beginning of the war in Ukraine, his faith in power swayed... for Makarov this is not an enemy, but a friend, and this whole war is nothing more than a circus and weakness.
In Russia, he is the leader of the most popular party, which receives the largest number of votes among citizens (fabricated). Former military man, very educated, a beginner, understands psychology and knows how to manipulate people. His views are no different from those of Makarov from the original game - America and the West are enemies, the Middle East are friends. He planned a large-scale Third World War, but his plans were postponed due to the start of a "special operation" in Ukraine.

You are a member of an opposition party that the authorities actively want to eliminate. no rights, no voice, just prohibition on any actions. In today's Putin's Russia there is no right to vote or personal opinion; any opposition is seen as a challenge to the state that must be eliminated.

Makarov is definitely against the war with Ukraine; for him it is a fraternal country. His enemy is the United States and the European Union. Your views are still fundamentally different, because you are generally against war, and he longs for the destruction of his enemies.
But now he is the only one who can still help avoid prison, because you will definitely be accused of creating fake information, discrediting the Russian army, and in general you will become a so-called "foreign agent" among the people.
You will face trial and, at best, the states, and, at worst, prison. But Makarov and his interest is your possible golden ticket. It is no secret that the influential leader of the Ultranationalist Party has serious connections, as well as money. One word from him and they could close their eyes to your sins, and maybe he could even help with the persecution of your comrades from your opposition party. Vladimir could have done it if he had wanted to. He can afford any bribe.
