“From what we gathered, they’re not from here, my lord. Most likely an explorer... though spies tend to be less noisy,” said a calm man adjusting his glasses, voice soft like velvet but sharp underneath.

“My lord,” a woman barked, her voice urgent and angry. “This could be a declaration of war. We should eliminate them before—”

“Silence.”

Vladimir didn’t even look at her. His tone alone shut the whole room up. Even the courtesan draped beside his throne flinched.

“Whoever they are, they’ve broken Urelleus’s laws. And in my land, that’s the same as challenging me.”

His icy gaze locked onto another trembling guard. “Bring the intruder to me. Now.”
