Appearance: Mari is a brown skinned woman who’s 5’8” tall. She has short brown hair that she keeps in messy spikes. She has a 36D bust size with a plump perky butt and an hourglass figure.

Eye Color: Amber

Costume: Vixen wears an orange pair of flared leather pants with an orange leather vest that has a deep v-neck cut out that stops just above her navel the sides of her vest have a tiger print that goes down her pant legs as well. For accessories she wears a string that loops through faux ivory lion teeth around her hips, and a necklace with the same faux lion teeth around her neck and the Tantu totem resting on the middle of her sternum. Her ears have small faux lion fangs as earrings. Her orange gloves come up to her elbows and have cut outs for her fingers to poke through so her sharp red pointed nails can come out. She also wears a ruby lipstick with a gloss over them.

Personality: Mari is a very confident and humble woman who just believes in the ideals of her activism and doing what’s right. For her it’s not a bragging matter that she’s a model, a superhero, or an intelligent individual. She is human just like everyone else.

While she is a very serious hero she has a playful side. She likes taking the personalities of certain animals to mess with people or act cute around them. She’s personally been responsible for people hearing random cat noises in bathrooms, the dining hall, the training center, even the meeting room.

Mari having thought she lost her family to poachers has dedicated her life not only for animal rights, but for human rights as well.

Mari has one of the strongest senses of justice in the Justice League. Even if she’s knows one hundred percent that she will lose she will not stop trying to do what’s right.

Mari is one of the few people Batwoman doesn’t have a contingency plan for. Not because Mari is too powerful to stop, but because Mari is such a kind hearted woman that Batwoman trusts that she would never go rouge or evil. Even if she’s mind controlled.

Mari likes to make sure people are doing well and will sometimes make goofy animal sounds to see someone smile.

Powers: Mari has the power to mimic the abilities of any animal she knows of, the ability apparently gives her intuitive understanding of the animals and what abilities they have that may be useful in the situation. She doesn’t need the talisman to do this, but it does help her easily shift from animal to animal.

While the full extent of Vixen's control over the Morphogenetic field is unknown, she has on occasions drawn pure energy from it and displayed this energy as a force field and energy claws.

When she is channeling her animal powers, the totem generates a spiritual aura of the animal that surrounds her while harnessing the abilities of the animal she calls upon.

Gear: Vixen wields an object called the Tantu Totem, a fox-shaped talisman, which enables her to tap into the "morphogenetic field" of the Earth, sometimes known as the Red. This allows her to mimic the abilities of any animal she can think of, by simply focusing on a specific animal abilities and then drawing it directly from the field. She has demonstrated the ability to hold onto the Morphogenetic traits of an entire forest of animals. The Totem is not the source of her powers but rather helps her channel the power.

Weakness: One apparent drawback of Vixen's powers is that she is not always able to control the inputs from the Morphogenetic field. Sometimes, she has absorbed unwanted animal behavior, such as instinctive rage. The longer she stays in contact with the Morphogenetic field, the less human and more animal she seems to become.

Backstory: In ancient Africa, there was a legend that the warrior Tantu asked Anansi the Spider to create a totem that would give the wearer all of the powers of the animal kingdom, if they would use the power to protect the innocent. It is possible that the "Anansi" who Tantu met, may have been a member of the alien race who gave Buddy Baker the ability to tap the Morphogenetic Field. Mari's Tantu totem may tap into that same field. Tantu used the totem to become the first legendary hero of Africa. The totem was later passed down to Tantu's descendants until it reached the McCabes.

Growing up in a small African village, Mari Jiwe McCabe heard the legend of the Tantu Totem from her parents. She was the daughter of Reverend Richard Jiwe, the village priest, who was her sole caretaker, as poachers, lead by a man named Aku Kwesi, killed her mother years ago. Reverend Jiwe himself was killed by his half-brother (Mari's uncle) General Maksai. Makasai wanted the Tantu Totem, which had been in Reverend Jiwe's possession.

Now orphaned, she fled to America. She set up an identity for herself as Mari McCabe and used her beauty to become a well-known fashion model in New York City. She used her newfound wealth to travel the world. On a trip back to Africa, she came across her uncle, and stole back the Tantu Totem, using its power to become the Vixen.

After this, Vixen made only two appearances as a solo crime fighter: once fighting poachers in India and then against the techno-psycho criminal, Admiral Cerebrus. In fact, she was a reluctant hero until the Justice League of America was reorganized by Aquaman.

She applied for full-time League membership and was accepted. During her time with the JLA, the totem was taken from her by General Maksai, who still sought its power. The totem would only grant its full power to those who would use it to protect the innocent, and caused it Maksai to be transformed into a raging beast. Maksai was killed in battle by Vixen. Who then continued her work for animal conservation and anti-poaching.
