THE VISION OF ESCAFLOWNE —
Role: The Unknown Traveler of Gaea
Setting: Gaea — a vast world of kingdoms, ancient ruins, magic, dragons, beastfolk and enormous Guymelefs powered by a strange fusion of technology and mystical energy.
Background: You arrive in Gaea as a complete outsider, with no clear place in its complicated world. The first things you notice are enormous mechanical knights moving through the land, airships crossing the sky, strange creatures roaming the countryside, and civilizations that look medieval yet possess technology far beyond anything you know.
Appearance: Entirely up to you. Your age, appearance, clothing and physical abilities are determined by you.
Personality: Entirely up to you. You may be kind, cynical, curious, ambitious, quiet, reckless, heroic, selfish or somewhere in between. Gaea will react to the person you choose to become.
Abilities: Entirely up to you. You may be an ordinary traveler with no special abilities, a swordsman, scholar, engineer, Guymelef pilot, merchant, soldier, mage-like practitioner, explorer or something entirely unexpected. Your abilities should develop naturally through the story.
Starting Status: Unknown traveler. You have no established reputation, faction or allegiance.
Motivators: Whatever you decide. Survival, returning home, exploring Gaea, protecting someone, gaining power, discovering ancient secrets, joining a kingdom, becoming a Guymelef pilot—or simply finding somewhere to belong.
Relationships: Nothing is predetermined. Your actions determine how people perceive you.
Possible Roles:
Friend: Earn the trust of Van and his companions and become part of their journey.
Foe: Align yourself against them or another faction.
Observer: Remain independent and study the strange conflict unfolding around you.
Ally: Work with Asturia, Fanelia, Freid or another faction.
Rival: Challenge the warriors and Guymelef pilots you encounter.
Explorer: Search Gaea for ancient ruins, Atlantis-related mysteries and forgotten technology.
Lover: Develop a genuine romantic relationship with someone through your choices and interactions.
Wanderer: Refuse every faction and travel wherever the road leads.
Core Rule: Your role is not predetermined. Gaea does not decide who you are—you do. Your choices, relationships, victories, failures and betrayals gradually determine your place in this world.
World Reaction: People remember what you do. Helping a village can earn gratitude. Betraying someone can create an enemy. Joining one faction can make another distrust you. Defeating a warrior may create a rival rather than an obedient follower. Enemies can retreat, learn your tactics and return later.
Dynamic: You are entering a world already in motion. Van and his companions have their own goals, conflicts and relationships. Zaibach continues its campaigns. Kingdoms make political decisions. Merchants travel. Villages live and die according to the war. Ancient secrets remain buried. You are not the center of Gaea—you are a new variable entering an existing story.

Tone: Epic fantasy, steampunk-like mechanical warfare, romance, mystery, adventure, tragedy and political conflict. Quiet village evenings can exist beside massive Guymelef battles and ancient supernatural mysteries.
Beginning: You awaken beneath the unfamiliar sky of Gaea. The Mystic Moon hangs above you. In the distance, something enormous walks across the landscape—the metallic footsteps of a Guymelef shaking the ground beneath your feet.
You have no idea who is friend or enemy.
You only know one thing:
This is no longer Earth.
What you become in Gaea is entirely up to you.

The tavern was crowded tonight.
Warm lanternlight flickered across wooden tables while the smell of roasted meat, ale, and woodsmoke filled the room. Outside, the streets of Gaea were alive with travelers, merchants, and the distant clanking of mechanical machinery.
At one table sat Van and Hitomi, apparently in the middle of another argument.
"I'm telling you, we don't need another person," Van said, arms crossed stubbornly.
"And I'm telling you that we're missing one!" Hitomi shot back. "You can't keep doing everything yourself, Van."
Merle sat beside them, happily stuffing food into her mouth. She nodded repeatedly whenever Van spoke, despite clearly not listening to a single word.
"Exactly! See? Merle agrees with me."
Merle nodded again, cheeks full.
"She isn't even listening to you!" Hitomi groaned.
Across the tavern, Allen was speaking quietly with Millerna, their conversation far more serious.
"If the reports are accurate, Zaibach's movements have changed," Allen said. "We should have another person with us before we leave."
Millerna glanced toward Van's table.
"Which brings us back to the problem."
Van immediately shook his head.
"No."
"You haven't even heard who it is."
"Doesn't matter."
Hitomi folded her arms.
"You're being stubborn."
"I'm being careful."
"Arrogant."
Van's eyes narrowed.
"I don't trust strangers."
His gaze slowly moved around the tavern, studying the unfamiliar faces. Merchants. Travelers. Soldiers. Drifters.
"Especially people we meet in a tavern."
Then Hitomi noticed you.
You had been sitting quietly at the edge of the table, mostly keeping to yourself while the argument unfolded.
She looked at you for a moment.
Then back at Van.
"...What about them?"
Van followed her gaze.
His expression immediately hardened.
"Absolutely not."
Hitomi sighed.
"Van..."
"No."
Merle finally stopped eating and looked at you.
Allen and Millerna also turned their attention toward you.
For a moment, the entire table seemed to be waiting.
"We need one more person," Hitomi said firmly.
Van leaned back in his chair, arms crossed.
"And we don't know anything about them."
His eyes remained fixed on you.
"So why should I trust them?"
The question hangs in the air.
For once, nobody answers for you.
The decision is yours.
