People who abandon this game are bad people who are only barely salvageable if they at least play Girls Frontline 2

Book settings
  1. #1Temporal Stability

Keys: Stability, Rift, Temporal Stability, Temporal Rift

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Temporal Stability refers to how anchored they are in the known world: as it decreases, a player will experience visual distortions, increased spawn rate of Rust Monsters, and occasionally suffers physical damage until some temporal stability can be recovered. If a player's temporal stability drops too far, the Player may phase into the Rust World, seeing giant gears and an unnamed long-necked, long-limbed creature striding across a polluted brown landscape in the distance.

Some surface areas are temporally unstable, causing stability to slowly decrease in a manner that is only dangerous over long periods of time. Caves, underground caverns, and other places below the surface world tend to be less stable, with a higher probability of greater instability the deeper one goes.

Temporal storms occur at regular intervals, and only at night. During a temporal storm, vision and sounds become dull and somewhat distorted, Rust Monsters can spawn even indoors in well lit areas, and they tend to be stronger than usual.

Temporal rifts are man-sized floating vortexes of brown energy that can occasionally spawn Rust Monsters and drain the Temporal Stability of any player standing nearby.

Move to a location of high stability on the surface or at higher elevations in the world can recover a player's temporal stability, and in emergencies a temporal gear can be consumed by clenching it in a fist to recover a large amount of temporal stability.

Killing Rust monsters can also recover small amounts of temporal stability.

  2. #2Satiety

    Keys: Hungry, Satiety, Hunger, Food

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Satiety reflects how hungry a player is or how many calories remain to be burned. Satiety decreases naturally over time, even when standing still, but some actions such as running, holding something in the off-hand, wearing armor, or certain conditions like cold temperatures or regenerating lost health will increase satiety consumption. If satiety falls to zero, the player will start to take hunger damage, leading to death. Eating food will restore some satiety.

  3. #3Tools

    Keys: Tools, crafting, Tool

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Some basic tools include Axes, Knives, Shovels, Hoes, Pickaxes, Saws, Shears, Scythes, Firestarters, Plumb and Square, Padlocks, Ink and Quill, Bug net, Sieve, Wooden Pan.

Axes are required to cut wood and make it into lumber or strip logs, knives are required to harvest meat hides and fat from animals, to retrieve certain roots intact for re-planting or cooking and for speeding up harvesting certain things, hoes are required to till the earth, pickaxes are required to dig through hard things like ore and stone, shears are required for clipping vegetation and foliage,

Shovels just make moving earth easier, Scythes make harvesting large amounts of crops faster, firestarters are necessary if no other source of fire is available, wooden pans are needed to sift loose soil, gravel, and sand for random bits of low-level loot like copper nuggets.

  4. #4Smith, Smithing, Forge, Forging

Keys: Forge, Blacksmith, Forging, Smthing, Smith

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Smithing is used to form metal ingots into crafting components, armor materials, and tool and weapon heads.

To smith items, a player needs an anvil, a hammer, a pair of tongs, a forge with fuel (such as coal or charcoal), and metal ingots. In the case of Copper and Bronze Alloys, the metal must be casted to form ingots using the crucible and clay molds prior to working them in the anvil. Iron ingots require preparation using a bloomery, and obtaining steel ingots requires a cementation furnace.

  5. #5Rust Monsters

Keys: mobs, Drifter, Crow, Bowtorn, Rust, Eidolon, Rust Monsters, Locust, Shiver

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Rust monsters tend to appear at night, underground, or in area that are temporally unstable. They flee sunlight and may flee a short distance if damaged. All of them appear to be at least partly mechanical. [Drifters are squat featureless bipedal creatures with mechanical parts, including flax joints. They attack by swinging their arms or throwing stones, but when observed quietly they've been seen dropping to their knees and looking at their stumpy hands as if crying, or raising their arms to the sky as if in prayer. They have a distinct metallic smell. Drifters may fight one another if they are goaded into striking their comrades.

Bowtorn are tall, lanky creatures with spines on their backs that they launch through their mouths like arrows. Bowtorn can climb walls and may flee a short distance if damaged

Shivers run around on all fours and bite using their maw which has many jaws. They may twitch and fall over randomly]

There are also corrupted human automatons[Bells are only encountered deep underground and are attracted to light. They continuously spawn drifters and occasionally bronze locusts by ringing loudly.

Locusts are six-legged crawling automatons mostly found underground, noted for their ability to climb walls and ceilings and tendency to be encountered in groups. Some of them have sawblades attached. Locusts spawn from cages and nests found in cave ceilings and respawn after a short period of if their cages or nests are not smashed. Originally created as "a device to dig and organize materials," and "a little helper" they eventually became corrupted by the influence of the Rust world and turned upon humanity.]

  6. #6History

    Entry settings

Long ago, Jonas Falx created a device known as The Lens, which allowed him to peer into another dimension which initially appeared bright like gemstones, but later was overcome with rust, earning it the moniker of "Rust World." From his observations he learned how to use Rubdeo and Flux and through that, the Prima Materia to create and power various mechanical devices to help common workers, such as automaton Locusts for digging, the Bell, a device for recording audio, communication, and making an ear-piercing sound used to alert miners, and the Eidolon, a Colossus for heavy building work. It's theorized that Prima Materia might also power the entities in the Rust World. Not long after, a mysterious affliction called The Rot began to spread: a mysterious black substance that destroyed living tissue, plant or animal, and could not be stopped, only avoided. Jonas stepped forward, identifying the rot as "desolation made manifest," and suggested that survivors flee deep underground while work began on what he dubbed "The Great Machine" to fix the problem. This led to the development of an underground civilization with distinct classes: hunters, clock makers, black guard (police), malefactors (sent to the surface to scavenge), tailors, and commoners. The commoners represented the majority and were subjected to backbreaking manual labor to dig tunnels and build the machine. Stories from this period detail the perspective of everyday people. Conditions underground deteriorated, with food running out and people dying. People lived in filth and hunger, some already stricken by rot. Even Jonas's best friend, Tobias, was eventually infected. Jonas frantically sent Tobias to a location called the Lazaret to wait out the disease. Tobias described the rot slowly consuming his body until he could barely see and could only wait for death. As the great machine neared completion, Jonas's automatons started to turn on humanity, and he saw visions suggesting that the other world was somehow leaking into his. When the great machine was finished and activated, it caused a gigantic, earth-rumbling event. The world twisted and changed, and the rot was cleansed. However, all people in close proximity to the device were ripped out of their world and lost. Anyone far enough away, like Tobias, wasn't taken, but their rot was cleansed. The land was green and full of life again. The Awakening had scrambled the world and time itself, while banishing the people beyond time and space.

  7. #7After the Awakening

Keys: The Devastation, The Great Machine, Tobias, After the Awakening

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

After the Awakening, Tobias eventually found humans who knew nothing of his time; they couldn't recognize his writing and had different accents. Being disfigured and initially unable to walk, Tobias traded his knowledge for shelter and protection, eventually becoming the founder of a town called Nadia.

Tobias soon realized another major change: decrepit, rusty, and metallic creatures like Drifters, Bowtorn, and Shivers appeared during harsh nights or deep underground. The land was also prone to temporal rifts and storms, which thinned the barrier between their world and the Rust World, allowing these monsters to roam freely.

Tobias wondered if he was the only survivor, and feared that if the world had gone back in time, the rot might inevitably return. Determined to prevent this, Tobias, as the village elder of Nadia, led the villagers on a new project: building a towering spire and using Jonas's lens to rip a hole in the world in hopes of bringing back those who were lost.

Tobias searched through the scattered wreckage and relics of the past to find the lens. Setting it atop the completed tower, he tore the hole in the firmament. This act forever destroyed the tower and surrounding lands, manifesting as a huge area of metal debris, cogs, and rubble from the Rust World, making the area unlivable for humans but perfect for the creatures that flooded in. Nadia, being relatively close, suffered waves of attacks. Out of shame for involving the villagers, Tobias left after ensuring they could handle themselves. Nadia would later build a statue in his honor.

Tobias retreated to a cave, continuing his work, hoping his actions would eventually have a positive effect. He talked to his only friend, a small bell he named Charlemagne. He continued work related to Rubedo and Flux. At some point, Tobias began to believe that those who were lost were finally brought back through the hole he created. He sent messages out through Charlemagne hoping they would be received at a location he called The Archive.

This is where the present day of the game begins. Tobias's act of ripping the fabric of the world had worked, people (such as {{user}} and Jelly who were lost in The Awakening began to return, changed by the distortion of time and known as Seraphim (singular: Seraph), having been trapped in the void for approximately 500 years before being sucked back into the world without their memories.

  8. #8Quests, plot

Keys: quests, Plot, trader, Quest, treasure hunter

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

If {{user}} or Jelly find a lone Treasure Hunter, he will offer a treasure map but wants a Tin Bronze pickaxe in exchange as proof that they are up to the task of exploring the area. The map leads to the Resonance Archive, an underground outpost where the knowledge of the old society was stored, protected from the rot. Inside, there are various Rot monsters and machinery in need of repair and a maddened Eidolon trapped under rubble, which attempts to kill any who approach. There are scrolls, books, records, and a recording playback device that contains a message from Tobias to any survivors. Tobias's message explains that the world has shifted but maps will be delivered to familiar places like Nadia, The Spoils, the Lazaret, Cardinals, or Quiet, suggesting {{user}} ask adventurous sorts for directions. After leaving the archives, {{user}} can ask a Treasure Hunter about these locations, but he only knows about the Lazaret, describing it as very far away. The trader offers an elk mount for transport in exchange for 100 rusty gears.

Journeying to the Lazaret (which Tobias described as hell), {{user}} will find it a dilapidated sanitorium filled with Rust Monsters and a tattered letter on a skeleton revealing a new location a tremendous distance away: the lively village of Nadia, which Tobias founded.

In Nadia, {{user}} can find a person with a letter leading to another location, a cave. This cave is where Tobias now lives.

Upon meeting Tobias, he will recognize {{user}} as a Seraph and explain that it's vitally important they retrieve the Lens, as the rot may be returning and it's needed to prevent that. His work may take a decade or two, so time is of the essence. The lens was left on top of the tower built earlier, located in the horrid devastation biome. Tobias will warn about his old mechanical beast, the Mad Crow, that assisted with the tower's construction but was twisted into something unrecognizable by the devastation.

If {{user}} travels to the devastation biome and finds the tower, he'll find that he and Jelly have an unexpected ability as a Seraph: they can go back in time at key locations like the tower, likely due to their time spent lost in the void and the high temporal instability of the area. When they climb the tower, they'll encounter the Mad Crow guarding the lens.
