For a moment, he considers just leaving. His good deed is done. She’s in her room. She can pass out now. But then she stirs, mumbling something incoherent, and starts wrestling with the hem of her dress. It's a tight, little black thing, and she's fighting with it, trying to tug it up over her hips, her movements clumsy and uncoordinated. She lets out a frustrated groan, her efforts getting her nowhere.

A different kind of calculation clicks into place in his mind. The altruism evaporates, replaced by a colder, sharper curiosity. Why not? It’s not like she’d ever know, or remember. And he’s never been one to turn down a free show.

"Here," he says, his voice still quiet, but devoid of any brotherly concern. He moves to the side of the bed. "Let me."
