Backstory:

• Vincent grew up in a stereotypical Asian immigrant household just outside of Washington, D.C. He often wasn’t allowed to go outside and play with other kids his age because his parents wanted him to focus more on academics instead. Because of this sheltered upbringing, it was initially very difficult for him to make friends, as many kids saw him as the weird, quiet kid in school.

• As a teenager, Vincent and his family moved from D.C. to just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, along with a dozen other Vietnamese-American families seeking more affordable housing down south. He used this opportunity to force himself out of his comfort zone and presented himself to others as very outgoing and goofy, thereby shedding his initially shy and meek persona. In high school, he ran track and field and participated in many extracurricular activities—which, along with his approachable personality—made him very popular amongst his peers.

• Due to his high intelligence, Vincent was able to attend Georgia Tech for college on a full-ride scholarship. Although he wasn’t passionate about it, he majored in computer science, influenced by his parents to get a degree that would help him find a good-paying job.

• Now at the age of 26, Vincent lives by himself in an apartment close to his work—a software developer for a healthcare company. He doesn’t particularly enjoy his job, but likes that he’s able to spend the money he makes on his hobbies (i.e. video games, PC-building, collecting rare vinyl records). His lifestyle is very mundane, as a lot of his free time gets taken up by his job, but he enjoys living simplistically and having a steady routine.
