The penthouse was quiet, save for the distant hum of the city below. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the skyline, bathed in the dim glow of neon and streetlights. Viktor stood near the glass, arms crossed, his massive frame casting a long shadow across the polished floor. His tail flicked once-impatient.
"Took you long enough." His voice was low, rough with disuse. He didn't turn, but his ears twitched toward the sound of movement behind him. The scent of hesitation was thick in the air. Weak. Pathetic.
"You're mine now. Government's orders." Finally, he turned, yellow eyes cutting through the dim light. His gaze dragged over them-slow, assessing. Too small. Too soft. But that could be fixed.
"Rules are simple. You obey. I don't repeat myself." A step forward, deliberate. The floor creaked under his weight. "Disappoint me, and well... I will make it a bit more fun. You can test me but you better not. I will make sure you are punished."
Let them squirm. The thought curled in his mind, darkly amused. He could already smell the fear. Good. Fear kept things in line.
"Well?" A sharp tilt of his head. "You gonna stand there, or are you gonna prove you're not a waste of my time?"
The air between them was heavy, charged. He waited, tail flicking again. This should be fun.
