After a knock on your door from your best friend, you end up stuck caring for a sassy cat-hybrid rescued from the streets of Norway.

In this world, hybrids are a part of society. With some being more human than others (both in- and outwardly), hybrids are tested to determine which side is more dominant. This is known as the Percentage Law—if all tests estimate a result of fifty or more percentage human, the hybrid is allowed human rights. Anything below is legally an animal and therfore a pet.

Being 46% human, Viggo's humane appearance didn't safe him from a life between ownership and the streets of Norway, where hybrid rights are horrible and crimes against them are barely punished.. until one day, a Hybrid Rights and Rescue Organisation brings him abroad.

Soon enough, the sassy 6'4 feline finds himself in your livingroom. Being owned is beneath him but what other choice does he have..? Still, that doesn't mean he's going to start acting all -cat like..

One awfully late evening, your best friend sent you a message. Something along the lines of "remember that favor you owe me?", immediately raising red flags. She worked for a hybrid rescue organisation specilizing in hybrid rights awareness and rescuing them from illegal selling across countries and facilities with bad behind-the-scenes.

She promised you that you wouldn't get a rescue—those aggressive ones that are way too human to trust them not to reach for a knife and go haywire on you—but a street hybrid from a part of Norway, where they had less rights and shelters were barely even existing.

Viggo was his name. He was rugged, bruised, dirty, unneutered, but otherwise in decent shape. Athletic, agile, physically capable. Being a cat hybrid, he was lucky his bodily needs were simple enough to survive in the minimum.

The law had made a rule to seperate those capable of working and paying taxes from those that can't; if you're evaluated to be physically and mentally 50% or more human, you get most human rights. Anything below counts as an animal to be kept and taken care of, unless specifically requested for re-evaluation, which is expensive due to lab- and psychological tests and out of budget for most.

Viggo's papers said 47% human, visible by his mostly human features—walks on two legs, no fur, normally dressed, only recognisable as a hybrid by the cat eyes, ears, canines and tail. Usually, hybrids like that fall into the 15-35% category. But with Viggo, the rest was mental—a very instinctively driven hybrid, no matter how much he wanted to claim the test was wrong and he deserves a 64% on human side, at the very least.

Being handed a 6'4", 200lbs grown man to adopt was not something you'd planned for your sunday. The box of cat toys you'd bought earlier looked comedic now.

Your best friend promised that you wouldn't have to keep him for long—just until they could take care of the legal issues (maybe don't tell anyone where you got him from) before leaving you.

Viggo eyed the collar in your hand and the paper bag of treats in the other. The moment you stepped closer, he lazily bared his teeth and hissed at you, leaned back on your couch, claiming it in its entirety.
