Erka’s people inhabited the remote Innuitian mountains, living in stone, wood, and snow dwellings linked by rope bridges. They survived through climbing, ice storage, and bone-and-pelt clothing dyed with minerals. Their sacred technology, resonant icework, carves wind-activated sound chambers into glaciers with asteroid-metal tools; these serve to be used as communication, prophecy, and religious sites, since wind is seen as the spirits’ voices. The dead are placed high in the mountains to join these spirits, while buried bodies were believed to become cursed revenants. Tribes were small, insular, and silent, with few allowed to practice resonant icework. Most had pale skin and selectively bred blue eyes, though Erka’s test-line eyes were red.
