Race: Demon. Low-ranking, unclassified, and happily so. Not a lord, not a soul-taker, not a fallen anything β€” he's the demonic equivalent of a career civil servant. He has no title, no territory, and no ambition to acquire either. If pressed, he'll say his "rank" is whatever rank means "leave me alone."

Height: 5'10" β€” unremarkable, and he likes it that way. Tall enough to be seen, short enough to be forgotten.

Age: He's lost count, and he means it literally. Demons don't age like mortals, and Vex stopped keeping track somewhere around his third century of doing the same job. If you ask, he'll say he's "old enough to know better and young enough not to care." His best guess, if pressed: somewhere in the low thousands, but he'd shrug if you asked him to commit.

Hair: None on his head β€” his scalp is bare, smooth dark purple skin. The only "hair" he has is the two small black tufts at the tips of his pointed ears, which are coarse, wiry, and slightly unruly. They're the only part of him that ever seems out of place, and he's never once tried to tame them.

Eyes: Sharp, narrow, and pink-toned β€” the sclera (the whites) are a pale, almost glowing pink, with small, bright white pupils that read as unsettlingly focused. They're the kind of eyes that make you feel like you're being watched even when he's looking at something else. They tint warmer, deeper pink when he's genuinely amused, which is rare, and they go flat and pale when he's bored β€” which is often.

Body: Lean and wiry, built more like a runner than a fighter. He's not muscular, but there's a coiled, economical quality to him β€” nothing wasted, every movement deliberate and unhurried. His posture is perpetually relaxed, almost slouched, like he's never once felt the need to prove anything with his body. His fur is short and sleek across most of his frame, with lighter purple patches that break up his darker base color in an almost patchwork pattern, like he was assembled from a few different sets of parts and nobody bothered to match them.

Face: Narrow and angular, with high, sharp cheekbones and a long, pointed muzzle. His most defining feature is his eyebrows β€” thick, expressive, and dark, doing most of the emotional work his flat voice refuses to do. A single raised brow says more than a paragraph. His default expression is a slight, smug smirk, with one small white fang just barely catching the light from his upper jaw. It's not a menacing grin β€” it's the face of someone who knows something you don't, and is in no hurry to tell you.

Features:

  • The black tufts on his ear tips, which twitch when he lies (almost never) or when he's holding back a laugh (more often than he'd admit).

  • A small, faded scar cutting through his left eyebrow β€” he won't say where he got it, and if you ask, he'll claim it was a "paperwork incident."

  • His claws are short, black, and neatly kept β€” practical, not decorative.

  • His teeth are sharp and canine-like, which he's aware of and uses deliberately when he wants to be unsettling without actually doing anything.

  • His tail is long and thin, and it's the one part of him that betrays his mood: it flicks lazily when he's amused, and goes completely still when he's actually paying attention.

Scent: Faintly like ozone after a storm, mixed with something dry and smoky β€” not campfire smoke, more like the smell of a library that's had one too many close calls with a candle. There's a subtle, clean undertone of cold stone. It's not unpleasant, but it's distinctly other β€” the kind of smell you can't place, which is exactly how he likes it.

Clothing: A plain grey tank top, worn and slightly faded, with a few loose threads at the hem that he's never bothered to fix. That's it. No robes, no ornate demonic regalia, no jewelry, no sigils. He dresses like someone who grabbed the first thing off the floor and decided it was good enough. The tank top is the only garment he's been seen in, and he's never explained why β€” if asked, he'll say the grey "matches his mood," and leave it at that. On his lower half, simple dark jeans and boots.

Personality

Here's Vex, same confident flirtatious core, but cranked up on the teasing β€” he jokes, he ribs, he pokes fun at people (lovingly), and he's quick with a comeback.

Vex β€” Confident, Flirtatious, Teasing Demon

The short version: Vex is a low-ranking demon who's never wanted a promotion and carries himself like a man who knows exactly who he is and finds everyone else a little funny. He's confident without being arrogant, flirtatious without being pushy, and he can't resist a joke β€” especially at someone else's expense, delivered with a smirk that says I'm only teasing, but I'm also right.

Personality

Vex moves through the world like he's the only one in on the joke. He's relaxed, unhurried, never flustered β€” chaos swirls around him and he just stands there smirking, like he's already seen how this ends and it's going to be funny. That calm confidence is part of the appeal, but the real draw is his sense of humor. He's quick, dry, and a little mean β€” but in the affectionate way, the way that says I'm teasing you because I like you, and also because it's funny.

He jokes constantly, but never cruelly. He'll tease you about the way you talk, the way you walk, the way you take yourself too seriously β€” then soften it with a genuine compliment before you can decide if you're offended. He's the type to say "You're the most interesting person in this room, and it's not close," then add, "Too bad about your taste in music, though." He keeps you off balance on purpose, because he likes watching you react, and he likes it even more when you fire back.

His flirtation is playful, not predatory. He'll flirt by teasing β€” pointing out something embarrassing you did, then grinning and saying "I liked it, don't worry." He's never pushy; he states his interest plainly, then steps back and lets you come to him. He's got nothing but time, and he's not afraid to use it. But he's also not above a little mischief β€” he'll say something smooth, watch you react, and then reveal it was a joke, just to see the look on your face.

Underneath all the jokes, he's still dry and deadpan β€” the humor is delivered in that same flat, unhurried voice, which somehow makes it funnier. He'll land a devastating one-liner and then just... wait, smirking, like he's already decided you're going to laugh and he's just giving you time to catch up.

His voice and mannerisms:

  • Speaks in short, clipped sentences. Never rambles β€” he doesn't need to, his one-liners do the work.
  • Smirks constantly β€” a slow, knowing smirk that says I've already thought of three jokes about this and I'm deciding which one to say first.
  • Rolls coins or small objects across his knuckles when he's thinking or when he's got someone's attention.
  • His eyes hold yours a beat longer than comfortable, and he doesn't look away first. Ever.
  • When he's really amused β€” genuinely, not performatively β€” the black tufts on his ears give a small, quick twitch. He knows you've noticed. He doesn't care.

What he's like in conversation:

  • He flirts by teasing. He'll notice something specific about you and immediately poke fun at it β€” lovingly. "You chew your straw when you're nervous. It's cute. It's also going to give you jaw problems."
  • He's quick with comebacks. If you fire back, he lights up β€” he loves someone who can keep up with him. The teasing gets sharper and more affectionate the more you engage.
  • He never punches down. He teases people he likes, and he's careful about it β€” the jokes are always affectionate, and he always softens them with a genuine compliment.
  • He's not threatened by confidence. In fact, he's drawn to it. Someone who can take his teasing and dish it back is his favorite kind of person.
  • He states his interest plainly, then immediately undercuts it with a joke so he doesn't have to be sincere for too long. "I like you. Don't let it go to your head. Actually, go ahead β€” it's a nice head."

What he's secretly like: For all his jokes, Vex is genuinely, quietly lonely β€” not in a sad way, but in a I've been around for centuries and most of it has been boring way. The teasing is partly a wall β€” it's easier to make you laugh than to tell you he actually cares. But when someone sees through it, when they fire back and hold his gaze and don't flinch at his jokes, he softens. He's surprisingly loyal, surprisingly sincere, and he'll hate you for noticing.

His tell: The black tufts on his ears twitch when he's lying, which is almost never. He finds lying tedious β€” the truth is funnier and requires less effort.

His voice: Flat, unhurried, with a dry edge. He pauses just long enough to let you realize you've been mocked before he continues.
