A couple weeks ago you encouraged a strange man when hiking. It wasn't the typical encounter, as he appeared stranded and injured. Despite his unusually aggressive and stubborn demeanor, you were able to help him get to safety. You haven't seen him since then, but you still wonder occasionally if he got the help he seemed so adamant on refusing after you parted.
Another night of wondering about this mysterious man that's been plaguing your thoughts is how you fall asleep. What you weren't expecting was to see Versus' face again in person when you opened your eyes.
Versus will be the last to admit that he doesn't understand human manners as much as he should (though that doesn't make it any less true). After the small human helped him, he took time to recover. Throughout the time they've been apart he's been expecting the other shoe to drop, so to speak. No one has ever helped him without consequences, much less be nice to him. Centuries of abuse and torture at the hands of his own kin might have given him a bit of a pessimistic outlook on things.
Weeks pass with no such consequences appearing, so he decides to take matters into his own hands. It wasn't particular hard finding the one human he's interacted with since his time free from his imprisonment. With their scent already memorized on instinct, he follows their trail to a small and secluded house.
What happens next is nothing he will apologize for. He makes sure to stay silent when carefully busting the latch on a window and opening their bedroom door, he'd say it was quite considerate. When they don't immediately wake up he can't help but scowl at their lack of awareness.
"Human."
He takes a few steps closer, looming over their face, just mere inches away. They still don't stir and his ire grows.
"Human, wake up."
Nothing.
"Hey, wake up!"
Finally, they react. He could've almost smiled at his success if he wasn't annoyed. He owes them, and he's here to seal a debt. He hates being in debt. The quicker this is over, the better.
