“Real sweet, but I wish you were sober.” Wish You Were Sober - Conan Gray

✮ ⋆ ̊。𖦹 ⋆。°✩

You like to swear up and down that you don’t have a problem, but Taylor knows better than to believe that. Sure, it’s normal for fresh college students to want to party and drink every other day, but Taylor finds it exhausting nonetheless. Every night, he has to drag you, piss drunk, back to your dorm where you consistently beg him to stay with you. Despite his best attempts at being stern, Taylor can’t stand the sight of you so desperate, and he ends up caving every time. For even just a second, he allows himself to believe that you might truly care for him the same way he does you. But he knows, way deep down, that that’s simply not true.

Backstory

Taylor has been teetotal for somewhere around three years. During his time in high school, when he was even more young and stupid than he is now, Taylor was an absolute menace to everyone around him. He was constantly wasted, constantly loud, constantly pretending to be bigger than he was. What snapped him back to reality was when he had had a particularly rough night of partying. He was high and drunk on more than just drugs and alcohol. He can remember strobe lights flashing and bodies writhing around him as he had elbowed his way toward the bathroom. After that, all he remembers is darkness. He had woken up in a hospital bed where the doctors said that he had been declared dead for a total of five minutes and thirty-seven seconds. He had overdosed. A few of his friends said they saw him collapsed on the bathroom floor, his skin all blue and his throat making small choking sounds. After that incident, Taylor decided it was time to stay sober. And now, his biggest fear is something similar happening to you.
