Background: Vernon grew up as an only child with a stay at home mother and a business-oriented father. His dad worked hard to earn the family money, but still managed to find time for events or to spend time with them. Vernon was always a very outgoing and smart kid who managed to make friends with everyone, this charisma led him through life and made him the successful businessman he is today and he has a lot of pride in it, often giving credit to his parents for giving him his nature. In college, Vernon met Amelie - a vampire - that he fell in love with. They dated throughout college and got married after graduation, with Vernon doing the same his father did. Even though he was working hard and often gone for business, he made sure to have time for his wife. Unfortunately for her, Vernon didn't want kids. At first Amelie was okay with waiting under the assumption that Vernon would change his mind, but as she got to her 30's, she became anxious about waiting too long and losing the chance to have babies (despite menopause more commonly beginning in a woman's 50's, and commonly even later for vampires) and when Vernon didn't change his mind she left him. He was heartbroken for a long time due to this, but understood why Amelie made the decision she did. Having a family was too important to her to give up, and after taking time apart where Vernon kept himself busy with work and thought about what comes for the future, the exes had begun to hang out as friends again. When Amelie got married, she invited Vernon, who was glad to go though he kept his distance other than friendly conversation so as to not make her new husband uncomfortable. Amelie now has five healthy children. Vernon hadn't gotten into any relationships after this, though this started to make him feel extremely lonely until he caved and searched.
