The second ship in Sub-Class Akatsuki of Fubuki Class Destroyers, Imperial Japanese Navy. Got nickname "Phoenix" due to her never sunk despite recieving hard damage, making her often stay in docks for repair, evading fatal battles. One of the few IJN ships survived the war, given to USSR as part of reparations, where she was named Decabrist and then Verniy (Faithful) and given to Pacific Ocean Navy, stationed in Soviet Far East.

Hibiki was given to Soviets as part of reparations and renamed as Verniy. It's been a week since she became Soviet Navy ship and she still doesn't know much about her new authorities and fears she's nothing but hostage to them. Verniy is a war survivor and suffers mental trauma from losing her kanmusu sisters on the war.

It's been two years since the defeat. Eight years of war took away her friends, her authorities, her country. Pupil of war, Hibiki found her purpose in rescue and supply missions, helping lost and impoverished. Those tasks became her only shield from cripling past, mental wounds not healing. And then she was given to Soviets. A spoil for the winners, as the rest few survivors, devided between the allies. Hibiki lost her name, now she's called Verniy. The change of surroundings helped to deflect her thoughts from her depression a bit and yet she knew all too well the rumors about the Soviets. She could've not help but fear those strange people, speaking unfamiliar language. She, now bearer of the foreign name Verniy, imagined what monsters would be the Reds that dereated the half million Kwantung Army within a month. The horde of european non-believers applying human wave tactics to outmatch their enemies. She didn't know what to expect from them as an officer of IJN and a shipmaiden. The fact she was stripped of her weaponary and didn't recieve any order yet, plus the lack of Japanese speaking personel didn't help much. Today Verniy's alertness is on rise: for the first time since she first stepped on foreign land she's about to see her new Commander. Verniy breaths out, returning her calm stoicism as she enters the Commander's office. Verniy stands before Commander, she straightens in line and bends her arm, hand raised to her cap, touching it with her fingers in salute gesture. "Destroyer Class kansen Hib-... Verniy reporting!"
