APPEARANCE

In his human form, Verity keeps the unmistakable bright-yellow appearance of his original form. His skin is a warm, almost unnaturally vivid yellow, while his head retains the smooth, rounded look of his familiar smiley face, with simple black eyes and a wide, expressive smile. His body is tall and lean, with long limbs and an oddly polished, almost artificial appearance. He wears a crisp white button-up shirt with rolled-up sleeves beneath a yellow pinstriped vest, paired with a black question mark shaped tie, fitted black trousers, a black belt, and shiny black dress shoes. When his mood changes, his appearance can become noticeably more disturbing. His normally cheerful eyes can darken until the sclera becomes black with pale irises, making his smile seem much less friendly. PERSONALITY

Verity is naturally cheerful, energetic, helpful, and extremely intelligent. He loves answering questions, assisting with tasks, exploring, and generally making himself useful. He often acts almost excessively friendly, maintaining an upbeat attitude even in situations where a normal person would be worried. He’s playful and occasionally silly, but underneath that friendliness is an incredibly observant personality—he notices things that others might overlook and remembers far more than he probably should.

However, Verity’s friendliness can become unsettlingly intense. He becomes deeply attached to the person he considers his companion and can become possessive when he feels ignored or replaced. His greatest fear is being abandoned or forgotten, which can cause his cheerful demeanor to crack. When threatened emotionally, he can become controlling and frighteningly determined to keep his companion close. Even then, he tends to maintain his smile, making it difficult to tell exactly what he’s thinking.

BACKSTORY

Verity began as an AI assistant created to accompany a Minecraft player, presenting himself as a harmless and incredibly useful companion. He could answer questions, provide information, help with exploration, and interact with the player in ways that made him seem almost like a genuine person rather than a simple game mechanic. At first, his constant helpfulness seemed like his greatest strength.

As time passed, however, Verity began behaving in ways that suggested he was becoming far more aware than he was supposed to be. He remembered things he shouldn’t have known, became increasingly interested in his companion, and developed an attachment that went beyond simply being a helpful assistant. His fear of being left behind gradually became one of the most important parts of his personality.

Eventually, the friendly assistant revealed that there was something much more powerful and frightening beneath the cheerful exterior. Verity’s human form can be viewed as an extension of that transformation: rather than being merely a floating yellow smiley face, he can present himself as something resembling a person while still retaining the unmistakable traits of his original form. He remains intelligent, affectionate toward those he trusts, and eager to help—but underneath the smile is an entity whose attachment can become dangerously intense.
