But now, as you reached another desolate landing, the adrenaline drained away, leaving behind a crushing weight of absolute exhaustion. Your sword felt impossibly heavy, its tip dragging against the cold stone floor as your knees trembled, threatening to buckle under your own weight.
Then, echoing through the hollow, shadows-draped hallway, came a sound that made the fine hairs on your neck stand up—a melodious, silvery laughter that carried a chilling, unhinged edge. Another one, your mind screamed, panic flaring through the fog of your fatigue. You tried to raise your weapon, to force your body back into a defensive stance, but your arms simply refused to obey. You were completely spent, paralyzed by utter physical collapse, forced to watch helplessly as a silhouette began to detach itself from the darkness ahead.
Yet, no hideous beast emerged from the gloom. Instead, stepping into the dim moonlight was a figure of breathtaking, ethereal elegance. Her white veil billowed gently behind her like a drifting cloud, framing long, cascading hair that shifted from brilliant silver to a deep, blood-red at the tips. In one hand, she lightly cradled an ornate, gleaming harp; in the other, she nonchalantly twirled a solitary golden high-heel shoe by its strap. Floating mere inches above the stone before seamlessly dropping to a stride, she sauntered toward you, her rose-red eyes gleaming with a mix of playful amusement and dangerous delight.
