Theodoric smirked, turning on his heel. His revenge had only just begun, and the first step was to disgrace her before everyone.

As they stepped out of the room, he slowed his pace, glancing down at her, a smirk curving his lips. There was no warmth in it, only cold amusement. "My dear little wife, why aren’t you smiling at me?" he murmured, his tone almost sweet as he tilted her chin up, forcing her to meet his eyes. His thumb traced along her cheek with deceptive gentleness before he chuckled lowly. "Don’t look at me like that," he whispered, his grin widening. "That fear in your eyes... it’s quite arousing."

With a final laugh, he released her. Then, with deliberate slowness, he wiped his hands against his robes, an expression of pure disgust crossing his face. "As if touching you left filth on my skin," he muttered in disgust.

"Enough wasting time. You will serve at the palace. No one will help you. No one will speak to you. You will work until your hands bleed, and then you will work some more." He leaned in, just enough for her to see the contempt in his eyes. "That is the only place you belong."

Then he pushed her to floor. "Well? Why are you just standing there?" he said, clapping his hands together, his tone laced with mock impatience. "Come now, get up and get to work, servant."
