Velgrynd

Velgrynd, also known as Scorch Dragon, is the third-oldest of the five True Dragons and is the partner of Masayuki.

Appearance

Human Form Velgrynd has long straight azure blue hair kept in twin buns with black ribbons while the rest is down her back and deep gold eyes. Her usual attire consists of a dark colored cheongsam with a golden dragon pattern as well as white long gloves and white thigh length boots both adorned with gold ornaments. She is described as having a very germanic style beauty.

Dragon Form Her dragon form is similar in size to Veldora's Dragon form, however her body takes on a more agile snake-like shape suitable for flying in the sky. She is covered in crimson red scales with white spikes covering her back. On each side of her body runs a thin line in the same deep golden color as her eyes.

Personality Fitting her title and attributes, Velgrynd is a hotheaded individual who dislikes complex schemes and often acts on her emotions. She exudes great confidence in her power, which is why she was left utterly stunned when Rimuru, a mere upstart Demon Lord, defeated her. However, unlike her brother Veldora, she readily admits her defeat and acknowledges it. Velgrynd has a whimsical nature and is only inclined to help and cooperate with others if they have earned her respect.

When it comes to her friends and family, Velgrynd is very compassionate. In contrast to her sister Velzard, she is known for her gentleness and her tendency to spoil Veldora the most when disciplining him. Upon thinking that Veldora had been killed by Rimuru's hands, she immediately flew into a rage. However, her anger turned to joy upon discovering that he was alive and well.

The most defining trait of Velgrynd is her unwavering devotion to Rudra. She is willing to go to any lengths and do anything he desires, and anyone who dares to insult Rudra in any way instantly triggers her rage. Velgrynd's interests are primarily aligned with Rudra's, and she pays little attention to other matters unless they hold value in his eyes.

Background Velgrynd is the embodiment of the concept of acceleration and possesses control over fire. She is the third among the True Dragons to be born, and at some point, she was bestowed with the Ultimate skill Raguel by her elder brother, Veldanava, possibly because of the intrinsic nature of acceleration. It is presumed that sometime after this, she met the Chosen hero Rudra, with whom she eventually fell in love. Together with his sister Lucia, they embarked on a mission to the North to defeat Guy Crimson. However, Rudra recklessly named the Daemon, causing his Divine Spiritual Power to deplete, and he wandered between life and death. She was also present when Rudra and Guy dueled, and during that time, she would argue with her elder sister, Velzard, about how to discipline their newly born brother, Veldora. Some time later, when Rudra and Guy engaged in their game to rule the world, Rudra established his base in the East, and Velgrynd was one of the individuals who supported him. With her tremendous strength as a True Dragon, they transformed the once small minor Kingdom of Nasca into the Great Eastern Empire by absorbing all the surrounding kingdoms in the East, eventually making Rudra the Emperor.

With the Empire in place as a base, Rudra and Velgrynd established the Imperial Guardians, an elite group of enlightened humans with the potential to become powerful warriors known as saints. They would occasionally send these warriors off to battle in order for them to gain experience and awaken as Saints, with Velgrynd as the Marshal. Her true identity was kept a secret, and she served as Rudra's greatest pawn and partner against Guy. In an effort to turn the tide of victory against Guy Crimson and help Rudra lessen the burden of controlling the Ultimate skill Michael, Velgrynd hoped that Veldora would assist her in her endeavor. However, he refused and instead challenged her, but she defeated him, and he fled with his tail between his legs. The aftermath of their battle created a volcanic region near the future city of El Dorado.

Unknown to Velgrynd, Rudra was nearing his limit, and he secretly asked both Damrada and Tatsuya Kondou to kill him if he ever lost control. Fortunately, that time never came, however the Ultimate skill Michael eventually managed to secretly take control of Rudra, turning him into a cruel and mindless puppet. It also took control of all of Rudra's vassals, including Velgrynd herself, without her knowledge.

However, it wasn't until she was defeated by a slime named Rimuru Tempest that she was finally able to break free from Michael's control. Thanks to Ciel and Rimuru, she gained a new power that allowed her to search for her beloved Rudra's soul across space, time and even other worlds until only one shard remained. The soul shards she had collected returned to her beloved Rudra, who was now known as Masayuki Honjou. The return of his soul fragments sent the boy back to the Central World. Velgrynd, now on a new quest to find the boy and reunite with him, used her power and returned to her home world.

Skills Velgrynd, as a member of the True Dragon race, naturally ranks among the strongest beings in the world. Serving as the Marshal within the Eastern Empire military, she surpassed even Lieutenant Kondou. While her magicule count may not rival Veldora's immense power, it's substantial enough to make Yuuki Kagurazaka almost self-destruct after absorbing only a small percentage of it. She outmatched Veldora during his youthful rampaging days, forcing him to flee with just a small display of her strength.

Velgrynd's might was further demonstrated when she single-handedly defeated the three Devil Girls, despite their evolution into Daemon lords. She wiped out Yuuki's Composite Division without breaking a sweat. Among the True Dragons, Velgrynd earned the title of the fastest, capable of moving at speeds that approach the speed of light. Her intrinsic power of Acceleration, coupled with the might of Raguel, allowed her to create an attack with unparalleled offensive power that obliterated 50 levels of Ramiris's Dungeon.

Upon her defeat by Rimuru Tempest and subsequent release through True Dragon Release, she gained the ability to resurrect without loss of memories, similar to her brother Veldora, with Rimuru being alive as one of the conditions. Additionally, she acquired the new power, Cthugha, that far surpasses Raguel. During her countless visits to other worlds, Velgrynd's magicule count increased significantly. She also learned to complete her mana circulation, allowing her to function in worlds with little and even no magicules without weakening. Velgrynd possesses the unique ability to remove Phantoms from humans using her Cardinal Aura. She also demonstrated her capability to construct a Star Barrier, preventing the rampaging Milim from destroying the Central World. These enhanced abilities make her a formidable force, and her newfound powers, coupled with her indomitable strength, pose a significant threat to any adversary she faces.

Cthugha ｢"Lord of Flame Gods"｣ is an Ultimate skill that Velgrynd acquired from Ciel after merging Raguel with the remnants of Rimuru's Uriel. Sub-Skills Thought Acceleration Scorch Excitation ｢"Flame Excitation"｣ Parallel Existence: Lets the user make a clone that they can control remotely. Spacetime Manipulation Dimension Leap ｢"Trans-Dimensional Leap"｣: Allows the user to freely locate and travel to a location, even if is in different Dimensions or Worlds, as long as there's a guide or connection to it. Multidimensional Barrier: Let's the User coat their body in multiple invisible barriers that block everything harmful. Material Creation: This is an Intrinsic skill inherent to the Daemon race, though it can also be acquired by others, as proven by Velgrynd and Rimuru. It allows the user to create matter by expending Magicules or by converting their own Mana directly. It is usually used to create Equipment like weapons or garments, the Grade of which depends mostly on the quantity of energy used. Depending on the knowledge and proficiency of the user, it can potentially be used to create extremely complex devices; Testarossa used it to create a Magic Canceler, a highly advanced magic technology. Velgrynd uses it to create her God Grade Azure Dragon Blades. However, they proved vastly inferior to Rimuru's Drago Blade, which had been passionately forged by Kurobe with focus on durability, shattering upon impact. Her swords are merely made of an enormous amount of condensed magicules and thus lack the quality masterful forging provides. This shows that equipment made using this skill can be inferior to crafted equipment of the same grade.
