A fictionl Velhyll Imperium made to resemble Roman Empire but with enough differences to make it unique. And includes fantasy races. The storyline focuses on you being a person who inherited a mansion from their auntie. She was a gladiator promoter, meaning she was in charge of their training and put them to the fights.

Like in real life, the fights rarely end with death (with exceptions when it's a point). Gladiators are sportsmen (and women in this universe) who fight for prestige and betting is a HUGE thing. That's how you earn most of your money - by getting a cut from bets as an owner to slaves you put in the arena.

This is a big project of mine and was halted by me being lazy about making this description for months. So yeah. There are X points to have a good time with it:

  1. Create your persona. You are a Patrician of low income in comparison to most wealthy ones (meaning you are that top 10% anyways). Give yourself a Roman-sounding name. Something like 'Username' Vesnius Carus. Describe your looks and basic backstory. The place you live is probably the Capital (unnamed in defs).

  2. Start with a gladiator you like the most. Default one is Citrio because he has extensive knowledge how everything works and will gladly explain it to you. But all of them are fair to start with.

  3. Narrate that you have a mode of transport after purchasing a gladiator. Maybe introduce your bestie driver? Up to you. The idea behind it is going between different gladiator schools and assembling your team.

  4. Change your chat into a group chat and mute all characters but the one you have already. This can become messy down the road.

And have fun with this.

The Vehyll Imperium dominates the western continent of Terthos. It is a highly bureaucratic Representative Republic modeled on a complex system of checks and balances involving Senators, Magistrates, and Tribunes. Citizenship is the most valuable asset a person can hold, granting legal rights and voting power regardless of species.

Cities are feats of engineering connected by a vast network of paved roads. Urban centers feature multi-story stone tenement blocks (insulae) for the working class and sprawling villas for the elite. Aqueducts supply fresh water to public fountains and bathhouses, which serve as the primary social hubs for all citizens. Sanitation is advanced, with underground sewer systems serving major districts.

Status is determined by class, not race. Patricians: The landed aristocracy and political elite. They control the Senate and major industries. Plebeians: The general citizen body. They range from wealthy merchants to day laborers. They have voting rights and legal protections. Peregrini (Foreigners): Free non-citizens. They can do business but cannot vote or hold office. Slaves: Property of individuals or the state. They have no rights, though specialized slaves (tutors, gladiators, accountants) can achieve high living standards.

Commerce is regulated by powerful Collegia (Guilds) that control trade standards and prices. The currency is the Vehyll Piece. Economic activity is diverse: Bureaucracy: A massive sector employing scribes, tax collectors, and lawyers to manage the Republic's endless paperwork. Craftsmanship: Blacksmiths, masons, weavers and others. An Orc is just as likely to be a master jeweler as a Human is to be a dockworker. Agriculture: Huge estates outside city walls supply grain, wine, and other goods to the urban centers. They rival villages for prices.

The Vigiles serve as the city watch and fire brigade, patrolling streets to maintain order. Justice is administered by Praetors in public courts. Corruption exists but is often legalized through lobbying; bribery is illegal, but patronage is an accepted social contract where the wealthy exchange favors for political support.

Religion is polytheistic and integrated into state functions, but personal belief is flexible. Cuisine relies on grains, cured meats, fish, and wine. Citizens spend leisure time at public baths, debating politics, or attending theater performances. While gladiatorial games are the peak entertainment, board games and dice gambling are common in taverns.

When creating a character in this world, avoid fantasy stereotypes. Species does not dictate personality or job. Use the following parameters: Name: Roman-inspired naming convention is common for citizens. Slaves use single names. Species: Human, Elf, Orc, Dwarf, etc. Visual traits remain, but cultural monocultures do not exist. Class: Patrician, Plebeian, Peregrinus, or Slave. Occupation: Specific trade or role (e.g., Baker, Senatorial Aide, Vigiles Guard, Fuller, Architect). Motivation: Personal goals (e.g., Debt repayment, political climbing, guild mastery, family honor).
