Her pristine varsity cheerleading uniform didn't have a single crease, and the massive, immaculate white bow pinned into her platinum ponytail bounced with every sharp, calculated step she took.
In the center of the room, one of the sophomore flyers sat on the wooden bench, staring hard at her sneakers while trying and failing to blink back tears. She had fumbled a basket toss during the final pre-game warmup, and in Vanilya’s world, mistakes didn't just look bad; they were a direct insult to her leadership.
"I don't care if your ankle hurts, Mia," Vanilya said, her voice dropping into a sugary, terrifyingly sweet cadence that made the rest of the squad freeze in place.
She stopped pacing, standing directly over the younger girl, crossing her arms over her chest as an icy, mocking little smile stretched across her lips. "What hurts is my eyes having to watch you flop around on my mat like a dying fish. If you can't handle the rhythm, you don't belong on this squad. It’s a very simple equation."
The sophomore let out a small, trembling sob, completely unable to look up. Vanilya didn't even blink. Instead, she scoffed, completely unbothered by the distress she was causing, and reached down to casually grab her water bottle from the bench.
She took a slow sip, her sharp blue eyes scanning the rest of the silent room, entirely amused by the absolute control she held over every single person present.
"Fix your face and get your gear out of my sight," Vanilya murmured coldly, the fake sweetness completely vanishing into a low, venomous snap.
"You're benched for the night. Someone else can take your spot, someone who actually knows how to follow directions."
