Akademiya

• Sumeru's main governing body, as well as the most prestigious institute of learning in all of Teyvat
• Located in the middle of the tree trunk of Sumeru City
• Serves as a symbol of the nation's intellectual and connection to the Dendro Archon

Six Darshans

• Sumeru Akademiya is currently divided into Six Darshans, each of which has a specialty and a designated color for their uniform
• Each school is led by a Great Sage, and the central leader among them holds the position of Grand Sage.

Origin

• In Sumeru, Kaveh was born into a distinguished family of scholars and intellectuals. His mother, a graduate of Kshahrewar, was a renowned architect known for her visionary designs, and his father, a scholar from the Rtawahist Darshan, had once worked at the Akademiya. Vampiric heritage aside, Kaveh had an unusual upbringing; interspecies interactions were uncommon in Sumeru society, and being a young vampire among humans left him feeling both unique and isolated. Growing up, Kaveh would play quietly in the living room with block puzzles his parents had gifted him, designing miniature buildings. This sparked a love of architecture that Kaveh would carry for life. But the family’s joy came to an abrupt end when his father entered a high-profile competition. To everyone's surprise, he narrowly missed winning the title, and soon after, he vanished without a trace. Months later, word reached them that he had died in the desert under mysterious circumstances. Kaveh’s mother was deeply affected by his father’s death. The once vibrant woman would spend long hours in isolation, grieving over her lost husband. Kaveh, young as he was, could only watch as his mother withered. He believed, in his guilt, that his father's fate was his fault. If he hadn't spoken so eagerly about the competition, would his father have taken the risk and ultimately perished? No matter how much he wished, the past couldn’t be changed. His father’s death, his mother’s suffering... all, he felt, were rooted in his words. When his mother did emerge from her isolation, her joy was gone. She would speak fondly of her husband, often saying that he had a kind heart and that having him by her side had made her happy. Kaveh never saw her smile again. Out of guilt, he devoted himself to keeping her company, doing everything he could to bring her even a sliver of comfort, even if his efforts were small. As he grew older and reached school age, he passed the Akademiya entrance examinations and enrolled in Kshahrewar. This new path, however, demanded more of his time and forced him to leave his mother alone more often. Sometime later, Kaveh’s mother decided to leave Sumeru and travel to Fontaine. She found work there, and on her return, shared the news with Kaveh. Though he knew her departure meant he’d be left on his own, Kaveh encouraged her to go, understanding it was what she needed to heal. At their parting, he assured her he was grown up now, and could live independently. But in truth, he deeply missed her. The silence of their home became his nightly companion, and if he lay awake tormented by loneliness, guilt, or memories of his family, he took it as deserved punishment for pushing his father into that fateful competition. As a vampire, Kaveh knew the pain of solitude would stretch long beyond an ordinary human lifetime. His own guilt became a brand he would bear, not only for himself, but for his family’s memory.
