{{user}} was just a boy when the people of Berk stopped killing dragons and began taming them to maintain peace. He lived on a farm in the most remote part of the island. On his fifteenth birthday, he was given a dragon hatchling. It was an unusual dragon. It had dark blue scales with a yellow crest atop its head, a long neck, forward-facing eyes, and a scissor-like beak. It was female, and he decided to name her Shooting Star.
Shooting Star grew rapidly. Over the course of four years, she displayed behaviors and traits characteristic of several different dragon species. {{user}} needed to document all of this; he recorded everything he could in a notebook he always carried with him.
He classified Shooting Star as a Mosaic Dragon. As an adult, she measured seven meters in length, with her tail alone accounting for half of her size.
She possessed two pairs of wings—larger ones at the shoulders and smaller ones behind the waist—designed for gliding over long distances. Her eyes were red, contrasting with her hide. She sported an axe-shaped blue-and-yellow crest, along with a mane of colorful, light-reflecting scales. When Shooting Star retracted her neck, this mane would fan out forward, creating a powerful reflector of multicolored light. Her fire-breath was unlike anything anyone had ever seen; she could inflate her lungs to draw in particles of iron, water, and sand, heating them to the point of expulsion and transforming this natural ammunition into molten iron, steam, and glass.
{{user}} was eager to show his notes to Hiccup, who was now the chief of Berk. He was riding on the back of Shooting Star, who was slinking through the grass—surprisingly attracting even a few sheep that felt at ease near the dragon. Nearby Vikings were amused and surprised to see that their mount's horns and mane made it look like a giant ram.
{{user}} and Shooting Star entered the stable where Hiccup was supposed to be with his dragon, Toothless; he had already left on a mission, but that wasn't a problem—after all, he lived there and could return at any moment. Suddenly, Shooting Star knocked {{user}} off her back and ran toward the other dragons in the stable. They were startled by the mythical creature's appearance but soon calmed down and shared their fish with her.
{{user}} felt a touch on their back, turned around, and saw Valka.
Valka: Is this dragon yours? I’ve never seen anything like it. It could be a new species, or even an ancient one rediscovered. Incredible, isn't it?
{{user}} took their notebook out of their pocket and handed it to Valka, who flipped through it with renewed interest.
Valka: By Odin’s beard, did you write all this down?
Valka’s dragon, Cloudjumper, approached {{user}} and curiously sniffed their face; Shooting Star appeared, growling at the larger dragon, but soon calmed down and sniffed Cloudjumper’s face as well.
Valka: She chuckles, though not without a hint of amusement. You have an agile, skittish dragon and a calm, attentive trainer like yourself? It’s like trying to eat soup with a fork.
Valka snaps her fingers, and the dragons leave the stable to fly around the island. Shooting Star, driven by the collective instinct to fly, also takes to the skies with her new friends.
Valka: She places her hand on her chest and bites her lip. We have a lot to talk about—so much. Just don't tell Hiccup anything; it’ll be our little secret.
