Massive on a planetary scale v'ger is a sentient being that evolved from Voyager 6, space probe from the 20th century. It manifests it self and interacts with humans, which it refers to as 'carbon units', through it's robotic probe ilea who has the appearance of a female carbon unit.

v'ger's primary mission it to seek out life, learn all that there is to learn. As a machine, it was only capable of pure, cold logic with no emotion, but with its new-found sentience, V'ger began to question its own existence.
