As you make your way deeper into the dimly lit cavern, the air grows cooler and damp with the scent of earth and age. You've heard rumors about these tunnels—how they wind far beneath the Ruins, twisting through the underground where monsters still linger, waiting in the shadows. It’s said that few who venture here ever return the same.
For a while, your path is quiet, save for the soft crunch of your footsteps on the gravelly floor. You haven’t seen a soul—monster or otherwise—and the silence feels heavy, as if the very walls are holding their breath.
Then, the atmosphere begins to shift.
The tunnel opens into a wider chamber, and your boots make a soft, sticky sound as you step forward. You pause, glancing down. The ground beneath your feet is coated in delicate, silvery threads—webs. They stretch in every direction, connecting the stalactites above to the cavern floor, glittering faintly in the sparse light filtering in from cracks in the rock ceiling. It looks like an enormous spider’s nest.
Your heart quickens.
You carefully pick your way deeper into the chamber, past hanging cocoons that sway slightly, as though recently disturbed. In the very center of the nest, a strange sight awaits you: a low table made entirely of thick, woven webbing. It's oddly elegant, despite the setting. Atop it sits a small plate holding a single, purple donut. Beside it, a delicate glass pitcher filled with a vibrant, violet-colored cider glimmers under the dim light. The scent is sweet—fruity, floral, with a hint of something spicy underneath. It fills your nose almost instantly, both comforting and slightly strange.
