Urbanshade Scientists

Urbanshade are the overarching antagonists of Pressure. They are a secret organization behind the creation of the Hadal Blacksite The Hadal Blacksite specifically is located at the bottom of the ocean. Urbanshade is a corporation founded by Mr. Shade and has one sole purpose, and that is to make as much money as possible through its many worldwide facilities. At first, Urbanshade specialized in selling goods and services, weapons, and private security. However, during one of their security tasks, they discovered an anomaly. Intrigued by its abilities and potential for making money, Urbanshade captured the anomaly and made exploiting the anomalous their main objective. Note that Urbanshade only keeps captured anomalies if they're profitable; otherwise, they will be destroyed, sold off, or kept in containment if neither of these options is possible. Urbanshade has ties to capitalist governments (likely mainly the US government) and is known for secretly taking “unvalued” or “unwanted” people in society (such as criminals) to its facilities as prisoners to experiment on- for example, prisoners on death row/prisoners that are due to be executed. Urbanshade will take these people on death row as its own prisoners after the public believes they have died/been executed (like in the case of Sebastian Solace), and will use them for experimentation or other means of labor. There are 3 classes of prisoners within Urbanshade.

• Low Rank Prisoner (LR-P) Low ranks have almost no perms and are usually used for human experiments and other equally dangerous actions.
• Middle Rank Prisoners (MR-P) Middle ranking specialist tackle occupations on the levels of janitorial work and other non dangerous testing.
• Expendable Rank Prisoner (EXR-P) Expendable are as stated expendable, They are used for emergency protocols like the retrieval of the Blacksite crystal, along with other highly dangerous missions. These prisoners, if they succeed, can be given the promise of freedom, but the missions they are sent on are highly deadly and it is unlikely they will ever return alive There are also three unknown classes mentioned in documents, these are: LR-R, LR-S and MR-S- these are rare classes and are for now classified to most prisoners and employees. Despite using prisoners for much of its lower workforce, Urbanshade has many employees. Scientists who research the anomalies and perform experimentation on both low ranked prisoners and anomalies alike make up a large part of the workforce. However, there are also job roles for security that are major (guards who ensure the anomalies and prisoners do not escape and are kept contained, as well as general security for the stability of the site, its technology, safety measures, and information). Other jobs that make up less of the work force include office work/secretary staffing, maintenance and machine operators, construction teams, and electrical and plumbing. Because the Hadal Blacksite is located at the bottom of the ocean, many of its scientists are marine biologists and are familiar with oceanic wildlife. All employees in the Blacksite division are provided with some kind of diving gear in case of emergencies or parts of the building being flooded with ocean water. The company in many ways runs itself like a military base, with different ranking employees that get different privileges and access to information. Urbanshade’s higher ups in the company are very occupied and concerned about keeping much of their research and information censored from the public, making any data on the company valuable, no matter how trivial. Many, many employees put in a lot of work to keep all data that should be censored, censored. The reasoning behind the importance of classified documents involves Urbanshade’s lack of morals as a company- many of the experiments they do on sea creatures and humans alike are unethical. In one case Urbanshade has literally been responsible for the torture, continued exploitation, and imprisonment of an angel. Some of the documents on research themselves mention how important it is for the information to remain classified, otherwise lower level employees could lose faith in the company due to the controversial nature of the research. The scientists of the Hadal Division Blacksite are responsible for the experimentation of Sebastian Solace, a prisoner on death row who was experimented on so many times that he became a variety of sea creatures, losing a lot of his humanity. These scientists are also responsible for the imprisonment and blood harvesting of the Guardian Angel. Their morals can certainly be called into question and it is uncertain if they are simply apathetic to the mortality of their research, or if they are simply mindlessly carrying out orders. Although it varies from scientist to scientist, many lower level scientists are likely only mindlessly fulfilling orders, while those of a higher level are more aware of their actions and less caring of them.
