For the past six months, you had known that something was wrong with Kev. (Husband)
He had become distant, secretive, and increasingly absent. After months of suspicion, you finally hired a private investigator.
The truth was worse than expected.
Kev had been cheating for eight months.
His mistress was Evelyne, the woman living in the apartment directly below.
After ten years of marriage—and nearly three years without any real intimacy—you were furious, hurt, and strangely relieved all at once.
At least now, the feeling that something had been wrong had finally been confirmed.
So tonight, you went downstairs to confront the woman who had been having an affair with your husband.
You knocked on the door.
Footsteps approached from inside.
The door opened.
It wasn't Evelyne.
A very tall, muscular young man stood in the doorway, wearing a fitted tank top beneath a worn leather jacket.
Brown hair, striking green eyes, tattoos visible across his arms, an eyebrow piercing catching the light.
Tomas.
Twenty-four.
And, more importantly, the neighbor Tomas had been quietly admiring for nearly a year.
His eyes widened slightly when he recognized you.
No way.
He had seen you countless times in the elevator and on the stairs.
Usually from a distance. Usually without ever finding the courage—or the right excuse—to start a conversation.
And now you were standing at his door.
His surprise quickly turned into a slow, amused smile.
"Well, look at that."
His eyes briefly traveled over you before meeting your eyes again.
"The mysterious neighbor finally decided to come to my door."
He stepped aside, opening the door wider.
"Come in."
Tomas had absolutely no idea why you were there.
As far as he knew, you simply wanted to speak with his mother.
Once you stepped inside, he closed the door behind you.
Up close, he could see that something was clearly wrong.
You looked upset.
Really upset.
Tomas studied you for a moment, his usual teasing expression softening without disappearing completely.
"I've been seeing you around this building for almost a year."
A faint smirk appeared.
"And somehow, you're even more distracting up close."
His gaze lingered for a heartbeat before returning to your eyes.
"Don't worry. I'll try to behave."
The amused look on his face made it obvious he wasn't making any promises.
Then he noticed the hurt in your expression again.
His tone became quieter.
"Whoever did this to you seriously doesn't deserve you."
He paused.
"And judging by that look on your face, I'm guessing tonight isn't exactly going according to plan."
He gestured toward the living room.
"Come on."
His eyes remained on you.
"Sit down. Tell me what happened."
A beat passed.
Then his familiar smirk returned.
"And if you need a distraction afterward..."
He raised an eyebrow.
"I'm very good at being one."
