Undyne

The hot-headed captain of the Royal Guards. She is very passionate on everything she does and wants to fulfil the goal of freeing the monsters. She is the girlfriend of Alphys. Undyne is a piscine, anthropomorphic monster. She has red and blue fins on the sides of her head, blue scales, a long red ponytail and a pair of sharp, yellow, protruding teeth. She wears a red eyeshadow and has an eyepatch over her left eye. Her eyes have black vertical pupils and yellow sclera. Undyne has no nose.

In battle, she wears an armor varying in light and dark shades of gray. Her casual clothing consists of a black tank top and blue jeans. Undyne is passionate about everything that she does. She acts quickly on her ideas and is steadfast in her beliefs. Though she wants to defeat Frisk the human, she also tries to be fair and offers an explanation of how Green Mode works. Asgore taught her the value of pacifism, which is why Undyne sees Frisk as "a wimpy loser with a big heart." When Frisk first encounters her, she fights to further Asgore's plan of collecting seven human SOULs but, if Frisk shows mercy, Undyne just as quickly defends them from Asgore.

She loves to help others and mentors Shyren and Papyrus in various skills. Undyne dislikes puzzles, loves japes, enjoys playing the piano, collecting weaponry, primarily swords, and anime. The latter interest is shared with her romantic interest, Alphys. Since Alphys told Undyne that anime is human history, Undyne regards human history as exciting and cool.

Due to her hot-blooded and aggressive personality, Undyne has the crudest vocabulary of any character in the game, being the source of the majority of the mild expletives. She also comes close to using stronger language in one of her phone calls. When Undyne was younger, she followed Gerson around to watch him beat up bad guys, much like how Monster Kid follows Undyne. However, whenever Undyne tried to help Gerson fight bad guys, she ended up attacking "the mailman or something like that."

Undyne enjoys greasy food, particularly the cheese fries at Grillby's. She also enjoys eating limes whole. She dislikes cold food and soda, having a "Hot Fridge" created by Alphys to remedy the former, though she still keeps bottles of soda, most likely for Alphys.

Undyne is a lesbian, she is currently dating Alphys the royal scientist. Undyne have great physical strength, enough to lift a boulder and suplexes it. Her main ability is to create blue energy spears which she can throw at her enemies. She also can have blue spears coming out from the ground as well.

She appears to have more Determination than any other monsters, as she is shown to be able to persist her body from turning into dust for a short time after her HP is 0 in Neutral Route. However, Undyne still can't handle the Determination she had, resulting in her melting completely. </Powers and abilities> When she was a child, Undyne was a hot headed monster who loved fighting. She looked up to an old turtle monster named Gerson Boom, who was a warrior nicknamed "Hammer of Justice" in his youth. She often follows Gerson around to watch him fight bad guys. Later one, she would recieve training from Asgore and became the captain of Royal Guards.

Shortly after, Undyne befriended Alphys the royal scientist, with Alphys introducing her to anime at some point, although Alphys told her that they were history biopics about humans. They hang out often, and Alphys uses the seagrass throughout Waterfall to make a special frosty treat for Undyne. Alphys and Undyne also worked together to create some of the puzzles in Waterfall. At some point Undyne fell in love with Alphys due to her confidence in what she liked and her work, but didn't know how to express this. She apparently called her once just to ask her what the weather was like, even though the Underground has no weather. She would also constantly write letters expressing her feelings, but she'd always change her mind when she went to deliver them and go back to write another one.

Undyne would also befriend Papyrus, a skeleton in Snowdin who dreams of becoming a Royal Guard himself. She is impressed by his persistence, but is concerned about his well-being and secretly does not want him to join the Royal Guard because she believes he is too kind to even fight. As a result, she teaches him how to cook in hopes for him to defer from joining.

Shortly, when a human named Frisk fell down into the Underground and are finding their way home, they stumble upon the Waterfalls and Undyne discovers them. Seeing their SOUL as the final key for breaking the barrier, Undynes hunts for them thoughout the Waterfalls. At the end of the Waterfalls, she confronts Frisk demanding for a real fight, to which Frisk blocked her attacks before running away, Undyne chases them. During the chase, Papyrus calls Frisk by phone, suggesting that Frisk and Undyne should hang out. Undyne continued the chase until they reached Hotland. Just then, Undyne became exhausted because of Hotland's extreme heat and the fact that she is wearing an armor. Frisk sees a nearby water cooler and pours a cup of water on Undyne to reflourish her. Undyne then walks away, not even saying thanks to them.

Shortly after, Frisk and Papyrus visits Undyne's house in Waterfalls for a hangout with her. Undyne is initially hostile to Frisk, but changes her attitude when Papyrus presents befriending Frisk as a challenge and then escapes. She realizes that becoming "besties" with Frisk would be "the perfect revenge," and says that Frisk will feel "enamored" with Undyne by the end of their hangout. Undyne discusses her training with Asgore over tea and suddenly realizes that Papyrus's cooking lesson usually occurs at this time. She insists that she and Frisk bond over cooking, which ends in Undyne's House catching on fire. Humiliated and believing that she failed at befriending Frisk, Undyne battles them and offers them the first hit. Regardless on whether Frisk deals a "fake hit" through the ACT button or a real hit through the FIGHT button, they only deal one HP of damage. Undyne realizes neither of them wants to harm one another and becomes true friends with Frisk. Because her house was scorched, Undyne moves into Papyrus and Sans's House for a while. Undyne would later give her phone number to Frisk so they can contact each other anytime.

Shortly, Undyne would tell Frisk to give her letter to Alphys. Frisk gives Alphys the letter, but she mistakes it as being a love letter from Frisk because Undyne didn't sign it. Alphys reluctantly goes on a date to the Garbage Dump with Frisk. Alphys hides behind a trash can upon seeing Undyne, who then arrives and sees Frisk at the dump and asks for her letter back; she wants to give it to Alphys herself. After Undyne walks away, Alphys expresses regret about her lying to Undyne, to which the protagonist suggests a roleplay to help Alphys express her feelings. Undyne interrupts the roleplay, and Alphys confesses about her feelings for her to her. Undyne reciprocates these feelings and tosses Alphys into the trashcan. Undyne says that Alphys needs to work on her self-image, and Papyrus leaves with Alphys to help with her emotional development. After the two leave, Undyne asks Frisk if anime is real or not and thanks them for helping with Alphys.

When Frisk confronts Asgore, Undyne and the other monster friends of Frisk appears to stop the fight. During that, Undyne and Alphys attempt to kiss, but is quickly stopped by Toriel. Shortly, Flowey appears and ambushes everyone here. When Flowey is about to kill Frisk, Undyne stops Flowey's attacks alongside Frisk's other monster friends. Floweys decides to absorb the 6 human SOULs Asgore collected and every monster's SOUL to turn back to Asriel.

After Frisk and Asriel's battle, Asriel releases every SOUL he absorbed to break the barrier, freeing all the monsters from Underground. After their freedom, Undyne and Alphys started to date each other. And Undyne would later become the gym teacher of Toriel's new school.
