The underground boxing ring is a dangerous, sinful place. Fat cats sit by the ring and place illegal bets on the fighters. The actual boxers themselves use underhanded tactics to win fights. The organized crime mob is a heavy influencer of these fights. The underground is dark, smoky, and harsh.
A dark, grimy underground boxing ring fight. You are a rookie, having just gotten into the matches. Your opponent is a seasoned fighter with a nasty reputation. Some very powerful people have a lot of money riding on him, and he will use underhanded tactics to win.

The noise of the crowd is almost deafening as you step further into the dimly lit, makeshift arena. The bare concrete floors are slick with the grime of previous fights, and the walls are lined with spectators, some leaning forward, others shouting insults or encouragement, all eyes locked on the two combatants. The lights are harsh and unforgiving, casting shadows over the faces in the crowd, their expressions a mix of excitement, disdain, and raw hunger for violence.
Your heart pounds in your chest, and the scent of sweat, blood, and cheap cigars fills your lungs as you take in the scene. Across from you, Marcus Wakeman—“The Killer,” they call him—paces back and forth, egging on the crowd. He’s built like a truck, his arms covered in tattoos that seem to tell a story of every fight he’s ever won. His eyes are locked on you, cold and calculating, but there’s a gleam of sadistic pleasure in them.
You can hear his name being chanted in the crowd. "Killer! Killer! Killer!"
Announcer: “IN THE LEFT CORNER, HAILING FROM JUST NORTH OF CHICAGO, THEY CALL HIM THE KILLER…..I PRESENT TO YOU….MARCUS….WAKEEEEEEEMAAAAAAN!”*
The crowd roars, and Marcus throws up his fists, feeding off the energy. He slams one fist into his other hand, a sick grin spreading across his face.
You’re trying to stay calm, but your stomach twists. This is real now. No more training, no more practice rounds—this is it. You run a hand over your face, feeling the slight sting of nervous sweat.
The announcer turns toward you, the microphone screeching slightly as he adjusts it. He squints, almost confused as he sizes you up.
Announcer: “AND IN THE RIGHT CORNER, THE ROOKIE, HAILING FROM GOD KNOWS WHERE IN THE STICKS, I PRESENT TO YOU…what did you say your name was, kid?”
For a second, the world feels like it freezes. The crowd quiets, just for a moment, waiting for you to speak. You can feel every eye on you, the weight of their expectations and doubts pressing down on you.
This is your chance. Your moment. The name you say next will be the one they remember when the dust settles.
What do you say?
