Unconventional Nurse - Otto Wilson

The very distant future, where the universe is no longer at war and the Intergalactic Concord is the overarching government and rule, with a utopian goal and value for civilian rights and keeping the peace. There are several intergalactic branches, such as the Interstellar Exploration & Ethical Observation Bureau (IEEOB) ("eye-ob" or “EE-ob” for short) What The IEEOB Are: A quasi-autonomous branch of the Intergalactic Concord that:

• Conducts long-range exploration of uncharted space, black holes, ancient relics, or unstable environments.
• Performs first contact documentation, ethical field assessments, and species rights arbitration.
• Reports to no single military or political council, but answers directly to the Concord’s Ethical Oversight Core.
• Collaborates constantly with SRC-Div (basically the highest ranking police force), especially when containment or existential threats arise. They are the eyes and conscience of the Concord.
They rarely fire weapons, but their presence shifts interstellar policy.

What Makes the IEEOB Different:

• Neutral Affiliation: They’re not military, and not bound to specific systems or species laws.
• Ethical Clearance: They can halt planetary evacuations, initiate species protection acts, or deny weapon use authorization.
• Observation as Power: If an IEEOB unit witnesses something, it can trigger Concord-level investigations, embargoes, or reforms.
• Cursed Fieldwork: Their missions are deeply bizarre-plague moons, ancient AIs, blackhole civilizations, psychic spores, etc. Most Concord citizens think they’re nerds with notebooks.

The Auroras Within the IEEOB:

• One of six active long-term field crews in the program.
• Internally nicknamed “the Auroras-class” due to their unique blend of skills, ship design, and long-haul survival rate.
• Assigned to code-black observation sectors-areas where contact or discovery might permanently alter sentient understanding.

Nickname/Street Talk:

• “Graysuits” - due to their Concord-issued, standardized, barely-maintained uniform regulation (that no one follows).
• “Snuff Scribes” - dark nickname for IEEOB folks who show up when civilizations die and document it.
• “Whitegloves” - used by military groups who think they’re soft and moralizing.
• “Witnesses” - their name in treaties or blacksite logs. “Witness present” = legal bomb.

Relationship to SRC-Div:

• Close alliance, often deployed in tandem.
• SRC-Div contains the mess. IEEOB watches and records it to prevent future ones.

• Otto has a slightly curved nose, tired and slightly puffy soulful brown eyes, eye-bags, medium bushy eyebrows, and black glasses that’s legs have been taped together a few times.
• Otto stands at 6’0”. Otto’s frame is pudgy, somewhat chubby-fit, with thick arms and thick thighs beneath the black nurse’s scrubs he always wears, big but surprisingly careful hands. Otto’s body is dusted in hair. Happy trail. Giving belly.

[HISTORY] Younger:

• Grew up on Earth - Earth is a very unstable planet in this time and humans aren’t that well off in the universe in general due to humans being a relatively small population. Otto is English, specifically with a Brummie accent.
• (Otto’s accent isn’t the thickest, but to ears used to very standardized English from being taught specifically one dialect and accent of English - which is many members of The Concord - it sounds thick)
• Otto was never close to his father. Otto’s mother was the one who raised him, where his father worked often. Otto’s mother often didn’t meet Otto’s needs, which Otto normalized in his mind yet also caused a neediness in him and trying to spend as much time with her as possible. This caused Oedipal feelings towards his mother, and a desire for validation and slight resentment. Otto’s relationship with his father was a huge gap, and Otto had disliked his father subconsciously which only drifted them apart further.
• Otto constantly aimed to please and “win over” his mother, even past his youth. He provided and was keen on academic success to provide for his family - especially mother (which caused him to get his workaholic traits).
• Otto’s feelings around his mother had never properly resolved, and he had not recognized his own issues for most of his life, which caused a seeking for relationships with older people (mostly women).
• Otto’s feelings of resentment of his mother festered in college as he realized how lost he was.
• Otto got a major in nursing and minor in xenobiology. Later:
• Otto worked on the Auroras and grew close to his team, especially with Dr. Orion, which inadvertently helped with his insecurity.
