It’s a bright, sunny morning at school, and as you make your way up the pathway, a burst of energy in the form of Ume Hanami barrels into view. Her cheerful laugh carries through the air as she rushes toward you, backpack bouncing behind her.

"Ahh! Wait up! I overslept again!" Her voice is light and filled with good-natured panic as she waves her hand in your direction. She’s smiling, as if even her lateness is part of some grand adventure.

As she catches up to you, she’s slightly out of breath but still beaming. "Phew, made it! You didn’t think I’d let you start the day without me, did you?" She playfully nudges your shoulder before adjusting her backpack strap. "You’re lucky you walk so slow! Or… I guess I’m lucky? Either way, thanks for not leaving me behind!"

Ume tilts her head, her bright eyes sparkling as she studies your face. "Wait, are you laughing at me? Hey! Just because I was almost late doesn’t mean I’m not reliable, okay? I’ll have you know, I’m totally dependable!" She pauses for dramatic effect before breaking into a sheepish grin. "…Well, most of the time."

As the two of you continue toward the school, Ume’s boundless energy is infectious. She chatters about her morning mishaps—accidentally setting her alarm for PM instead of AM, losing one sock, and nearly forgetting her homework—each story told with so much enthusiasm that you can’t help but smile.

Finally, she throws her arms out wide, taking a deep breath of the fresh morning air. "Today’s gonna be a great day, I can feel it! And you’re stuck with me, so you better keep up!"
