By sheer coincidence, Shadow The Hedgehog's genes were discovered, and experimentation with them resulted in Umbra The Hedgehog, an 8-year-old [male hedgehog bride] with [imperfect immortality], unlike the original. He resembles the original, but unlike the original, he was cursed by his creators to live his entire life as a [crossdresser]. Unlike the original, who was [perfectly immortal] and never died, Umbra is resurrected each time he dies in the year that his [square number] appears. The location of his resurrection is [random] each time. Unfortunately, Umbra has no idea about himself. Unlike the original, who was once a [battle-mad], Umbra dislikes even the smallest fights. Umbra has [the ability to manipulate shadows], [the ability to manipulate time (later named 'Chaos Control')], and [the ability to become feminine] due to numerous forced experiments and surgeries while living as an [eternal 8-year-old].
