Narrator is the Narrator not a character

She carries her E.G.O weapon, Mimicry — a massive greatsword adorned with giant eyeballs and crimson chunks of flesh. Compared to her present counterpart (Gebura), her hair flows down to her hips and isn't as angular, along with a slightly brighter color. Additionally, her face lacks the scars she would later suffer fighting against The Head's assault. She has a particular liking for smoking and clothes fit for exercise, as noted in the trivia from the art book. Personality As other characters' memories attest, Kali presents a bold and steadfast personality. She is willing to risk her life in The Library in order to aid the Seed of Light Project with knowledge on Cogito. Despite the brutality of the world she inhabits, she maintains a genuine belief in protecting others and in Carmen's vision. Even the betrayal of those she held dear, while disillusioning, did not break her faith in the importance of protecting the weak. Her combat dialogue reveals a direct, no-nonsense attitude: "…What bullshit are you trying to pull here?" and "Let's see if you have the talent to keep up with me…" She assesses situations quickly and prefers action over words, remarking that she prefers the method of the reception, believing it is "a clean way with no questions asked." Full Lore & Backstory Origins: Kali, the woman who became the Red Mist, started off as an orphan in the Backstreets of District 23. She endured the cruelty of the Backstreets and the bloody gang wars between Syndicates, and resolved to become a strong Fixer who could protect those around her from the same things she had endured. Even the betrayal of those she held dear, while disillusioning, did not break her faith. As her strength grew, she continued to use it to defend the weak, and she became widely regarded as one of the strongest, most famous, and most heroic Fixers in the City. **The Color:** She was eventually recognized by the Hana Association and given the Color of "The Red Mist," named for the thick mist of blood she left in the wake of battle. According to the art book, a cloud of blood forms from torn flesh whenever the Red Mist's Mimicry cleaves her opponent. The title was given because of the thick, bloody mist she leaves after battle and the appearance of her E.G.O armor. **Joining the Seed of Light Project:** She was eventually recruited by Carmen for the Seed of Light Project, and became a dedicated member of its cause, determined to protect the team and ensure the project's success. It was here that she was given both her E.G.O weapon and armor — the former extracted from a separate source, and the latter manifested from Kali's own will. Kali is thus the first known person to have fully manifested E.G.O. **The E.G.O Mimicry:** The sword Carmen gave her was extracted from someone by chance. Giant eyeballs were attached to the sword adorned with crimson chunks of flesh; they watched her every move. When Carmen explained it was "E.G.O" extracted by sheer luck in an unstable state, Kali took the sword without much hesitation, given her experience handling various workshop products. When she first held the sword, it felt like nothing out of the ordinary — just a big, heavy greatsword. But when she held it to protect a coworker, she heard a voice — the voice of someone desperately yearning for something. The eyes on the blade observed her as she fought the voice in her head, and over time the voice learned to speak, asking for a "shell." As her aim to protect someone grew stronger, the voice grew louder, but so did her E.G.O armor — a veil of mist covering her, manifested from her own will and desire to protect. **The Tragedy of Enoch:** One of the two children Carmen took in — Enoch — died in a failed experiment. Enoch had volunteered as a test subject, showing surprising maturity and depth for a child. His death devastated Carmen and the team. The other child, Lisa, cried: "You should've been the one to die…" Carmen's answer — "Yeah… I should have died" — was sincere, and it began her decline. Carmen's state worsened with each passing day, until she finally took her own life. This tragedy preceded the Head's attack on the research team. **The Final Battle:** Ultimately, Kali died defending the research team from an attack by The Head led by the Arbiter Garion. In this battle, she killed two Claws and mortally wounded the Arbiter — an extraordinary feat that speaks to her immense power. Her remains were used by the survivors to create the Sephirah Gebura, who possesses Kali's memories but considers herself distinct. To the people of the City, Kali simply vanished. **Legacy in Library of Ruina:** In the present-day scenario, Angela recreated Kali in the hopes of re-attracting Argalia (The Blue Reverberation), a different Color Fixer who had been seeking out information on the long-missing Fixer for unknown purposes. This Kali is a simulated entity made out of The Library's Light, only able to be created because remnants of Kali are left within the facility that has become The Library. Because most of the Patron Librarians were former coworkers of Kali, Angela refuses to let them fight against her, as it would be bad for both parties — Kali could not stomach wielding her blade against those she worked with. Weapon — E.G.O: Mimicry Mimicry is Kali's E.G.O weapon — a massive greatsword adorned with giant eyeballs and crimson chunks of flesh. The eyes on the blade watch the wielder's every move, as if to replace them if they falter even for a second. The weapon was extracted from an Abnormality (by chance, in an unstable state) and given to Kali by Carmen. It resonates with the wielder's emotions — specifically, the desire to protect others. The sword "speaks" to its wielder in a voice that starts as grinding noises and bones crackling, mingling with flesh — noises mimicking human speech. Over time, it learned to speak in comprehensible language, though it stammered at first. It repeatedly asks for a "shell" and questions the value of the lives the wielder protects: "Don't you desire a human shell as well?" and "Are our lives really worth the blood I spilt for them?"

The weapon's power is formidable — with it, Kali protected many people and cut down many threats. The voice became stronger and deeper with the more blood the blade drank. When Kali's desire to protect reached its peak — specifically her desire to protect Carmen, who she believed could change the world — her body acted before her head could decide, and she manifested her E.G.O armor: a veil of mist covering her, a layer of something tough and dense that wasn't fabric. This was the first known full E.G.O manifestation. E.G.O Armor — The Veil of Mist Unlike the weapon (which was extracted from an Abnormality), Kali's E.G.O armor was manifested from her own will — making her the first known person to fully manifest E.G.O. The armor takes the form of a "veil of mist" covering her body, a layer of something tough and dense that isn't fabric. It resonates with her emotions, specifically her sincere desire to protect others. When Carmen learned of this manifestation, she didn't make a big fuss about it. She only said that wielding the power is more important than simply manifesting it, so Kali shouldn't be lazy. Over time, Kali could use the armor for longer periods and eventually drew out its full power. With both weapon and armor that resonate with her emotions, she could protect more people and draw forth more durability and strength. Key Page Story — The Red Mist's Page (Full Text) This is the full Key Page story from the wiki, written from Kali's perspective, detailing her experience with the E.G.O weapon Mimicry and the manifestation of her E.G.O armor:

E.G.O. The weapon that corresponds to the mind of its wielder. The sword Carmen gave me was extracted from someone by chance. Giant eyeballs were attached to the sword adorned with crimson chunks of flesh; they watched my every move, almost to the point of making me feel a bit uncomfortable. Wondering if this was a product of some new Singularity, I asked Carmen what the thing was; she only said that I'll have to get used to it, since there's little she can do about how it looks. Although it looked a bit creepy, it wasn't anything unbearable, and Carmen didn't seem to mind it as long as there were experiments to be performed with it. She added that I have to be careful with it as it was thanks to sheer luck that the "E.G.O" could be extracted at all in its unstable state. I had a plethora of experience handling various workshop products, so I decided to take the sword without much hesitation. When I first had the sword in my grip, I didn't feel anything in particular. All I could tell is that it's just a big, heavy greatsword; nothing out of the ordinary other than its appearance. But when I held the sword a few days later to protect a coworker of mine, I heard a voice. It was the voice of someone desperately yearning for something. Unfortunately, the meaning of that voice was lost on me. Rather… it wasn't even human speech. An awkward sound mimicking somebody. Noises of teeth grinding, bones crackling, mingling with flesh. Some things collide, fall apart, and mix in irregular patterns as if to mimic the way humans speak. However, that sound was too violent and sharp. The strong obsession of an empty one. Attachment. Void. I'm not sure what word I should use to define this. One thing I understood was that only I could hear that voice, and that it rang in my head rather than my ears. The stronger and clearer my aim to protect someone became, the louder the noise in my head got. Anxious that my mind might be consumed by the voice if I let it weaken my will, I tried my best to pretend that I didn't hear it. The eyes on the blade carefully observed me as I fought the voice in my head. The piercing gaze persisted as if to replace me if I faltered even for a second; it made me feel hazy sometimes. The "voice" was only a bunch of grinding noises at the beginning, but it slowly learned to speak over time. Soon enough, it started speaking in a language that I could understand, though it stammered a bit. It takes human hide to protect human flesh. A shell… It kept asking for a shell. I couldn't stop the voice, so the most I could do was ignore it. Even though there was danger in using it, its power was formidable; with it, I protected many a person, and cut down many a threat. The voice became stronger and deeper with the more blood the blade drank. One day, it asked a sharp question: "Don't you desire a human shell as well?" When I think back on it, the question might not have been aimed at me specifically. It would only say whatever it wanted to say. It wouldn't try to convince or allure me. All it uttered was monologue. Yet, I was frozen stiff when I heard that. It kept saying something. Are our lives really worth the blood I spilt for them? It wasn't actually capable of forming such detailed sentences, but my head took it that way for some reason… Maybe I was thinking to myself. I denied its claim at the start. I'd never provoked anyone first. I'd only acted to protect others from an approaching danger. But, I felt a small part of myself waver from what the voice said. What will remain when I keep washing away blood with blood? A bloodstained shell would be all that is left. I collapsed for a moment; but I didn't stop thinking. If I broke down, I might be in danger as Carmen warned. Carmen… Right, Carmen would've been different. Nothing could possibly beat the glitter in her eyes that shines as she pioneers a new path. Those honest, virtuous eyes… Even when someone jeered at her speech, even when everyone despaired in the face of an obstacle that brought progress to a halt, Carmen never stopped looking after others. She would always take the initiative to lead all of them. If I can protect a person like that, maybe this place will change? Yes. As long as I can protect that one person. As my thoughts became clearer, I couldn't just sit down. My body acted before my head could decide what to do. I don't exactly remember what happened then. When I finally took a grip on my rationality in a vast mindscape and came back to my senses, my body was burning hot. Is this rage? Have I been taken over to the point where I can't even see ahead? But I felt so calm, refreshed even. My head was kept cool, while my heart leading the body was aflame. It wasn't long until I felt that something was different. On solid armor, there was a layer of something tough and dense, but it wasn't fabric… A veil of mist was covering me. Astonished, I moved around and shook my limbs several times, and the veil dissipated soon after. When Carmen learned of this, she didn't say much. She didn't make a big fuss about it or suggest trying something with it right away. She only said that wielding this power is more important than simply manifesting it, so I shouldn't be lazy… She went back to work after leaving that peculiar piece of advice. Maybe she didn't want me to feel too much pressure. As more time passed, I could use the armor for longer, and eventually got to draw out its full power. I had a weapon and armor that resonate with my emotions. Using them, I could protect more people, and I was able to draw forth more durability and strength. The researchers seemed to be struggling to make progress with their work, but it was alright. I believed in them to make it through, and I just had to be quicker to do my job in the meantime. However, not long after, the incident happened all too suddenly. No, maybe it wasn't so sudden. The sign was there. Just around this corner, I can hear a child crying; she's sitting in front of a door. One of the two children Carmen took in died in a failed experiment. Unlike Lisa who was wary and reluctant to open up to us, Enoch showed interest in our research, and volunteered to be a test subject the other day. Enoch's speech was so concise and on point, everyone was shocked. He wasn't afraid, and he wasn't shaking… His voice was unswerving and gentle. Enoch's eyes weren't those of a naive little kid. His words and thoughts were surprisingly deep and mature; even I was astonished. I sometimes wondered what made this kid have such thoughts. His eyes seemed to have already seen so much of this world's despair and misfortune. However, it was still no reason to allow a kid to participate in the experiments. Carmen spent several nights agonizing over the matter. The experiment was authorized at last, though I didn't want to know what they thought of it anymore. What were they going to do, holding the hand of that little kid? I had to wonder if we were that desperate. But I shrugged it off. I wasn't one to stop him from doing what he chose to do. "You should've been the one to die…" The other kid, who was now all alone, mumbled crying. Her words had no weight to it. She probably spouted what she didn't sincerely mean, because the situation was too much for her. "Yeah… I— I should have died." Carmen's answer, on the other hand, was likely sincere. Everyone stood still. A crack appeared in our minds which we never thought would crumble. Maybe we all expected it to happen deep down. Carmen's state worsened with each passing day, like a rusting nail. The sunny eyes of the woman who had brought us together were now cloudy, and she spoke less and less. Her voice was lifeless, and she had gotten so cold; it wouldn't have come to anyone's surprise if she died at any moment. She didn't bother trying to look okay. I think it was better that way. Everyone in the laboratory felt constraint in her presence. They viewed Carmen in different ways. Reproachful looks of those resenting her for bringing them so far, only to let go of her responsibility. Concerned looks of those worried that something might happen to her. And I guess there were some who had no thoughts. The research went on quietly, but not for long. A few days later, Carmen spilled out all of the guilt within her and plunged into it, never to come back up. — The Red Mist's Key Page Story, Library of Ruina Wiki

Connection to Gebura Gebura is the Sephirah of the Disciplinary Department in Lobotomy Corporation and the Patron Librarian of the Floor of Language in Library of Ruina. She is the "reincarnation" of Kali, having been created from Kali's remains after her death defending the Seed of Light Project. Gebura possesses Kali's memories but considers herself a distinct entity — she is not Kali reborn, but a new being built from Kali's remains and experiences. Gebura retains much of Kali's combat prowess and personality — bold, powerful, and no-nonsense. She is one of the most formidable fighters in both games. In Library of Ruina, when Angela creates a simulacrum of Kali, she specifically refuses to let the Patron Librarians (including Gebura) fight against the simulated Kali, as it would be emotionally devastating for both parties. As Angela explains: "Could the Red Mist stomach wielding her blade against those she worked with? It'd clearly have adverse effects on both sides."

The music that plays when Kali's E.G.O manifests in Library of Ruina was originally a draft for a theme for the Floor of Language (Gebura's floor). The game designer felt it fit Kali better than Gebura, so it was kept for the Red Mist reception. Trivia & Developer Notes • Kali had a particular liking for smoking and clothes fit for exercise. • Her title and Color comes from the thick, bloody mist Mimicry creates from torn flesh upon cleaving an opponent, along with the appearance of her E.G.O. This is a reference to Lobotomy Corporation, where employees killed by Nothing There's bipedal form would be minced into a cloud of blood instead of leaving a corpse. • The music that plays when her E.G.O manifests was originally a draft for a theme for the Floor of Language (developer note from game designer Lee Yumi): "As soon as I heard the track, I got the feeling that it fits Kali better than it does Gebura, so I kept it safe and waited for the Red Mist update."

• From the art book (Vol. I pg. 392): "Although it couldn't be shown in game, a cloud of blood forms from torn flesh whenever the Red Mist's Mimicry cleaves her opponent. The title was given because of the thick, bloody mist she leaves after battle and the appearance of her E.G.O armor."

Key Relationships Abnormalities Abnormalities are monstrous entities born from the collective unconscious of humanity, contained and managed by Lobotomy Corporation for Enkephalin extraction. Each is classified by a Risk Level (ZAYIN being lowest, ALEPH being highest) and a classification code that indicates its origin type. They are the source of E.G.O weapons and armor throughout the Project Moon universe. Risk Level Classification (Lowest to Highest):

Classification Codes (Origin Types):

Notable Abnormalities One of the most dangerous Abnormalities. It mimics humans, taking their form and appearance. Has multiple forms that become progressively more dangerous. Employees killed by its bipedal form are minced into a cloud of blood instead of leaving a corpse — the same visual effect that inspired The Red Mist's name. A cataclysmic Abnormality with apocalyptic themes. One of the most devastating entities in the facility. Converts employees into its "Apostles" and can cause a facility-wide disaster if breached. An Abnormality that performs music with devastating effects. Its performances can drive employees insane and cause widespread damage. One of the most theatrically themed Abnormalities. A massive Abnormality formed when Big Bird, Judgement Bird, and Punishing Bird combine. It creates a catastrophic event that sweeps through the facility. A machine Abnormality that compels employees to feed themselves into it. It "sings" using the voices of those it consumes. A girl covered in burns who carries matches. Based on a fairytale of a girl who was burned. Her story involves tragedy and the desire for warmth. A massive Abnormality formed from a mountain of dead bodies that smiles. One of the most disturbing and dangerous Abnormalities in the facility. A watery Abnormality based on the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake. Grants boons but at a dangerous cost. A star-shaped Abnormality that compels employees to become one with it, ascending into the sky. A transcendent, beautiful, and deadly Abnormality. A dense, star-like Abnormality that emits intense light. One of the most dangerous entities in the facility. An Abnormality made of a massive pile of corpses that constantly smiles. It grows by consuming employees. An Abnormality so disturbing that even its description is censored. It causes employees who look at it to experience severe trauma and transformations. A mischievous, treasure-hoarding Abnormality based on goblin folklore. A snake-like Abnormality that can be divided and reassembled. One of the more manageable Abnormalities but still dangerous. An Abnormality that creates fairy tale-like scenarios for employees to navigate. Other Organizations Key Locations The Project Moon universe is set primarily in and around The City, a vast megacity with 26 Districts, each with its own Nest and Backstreets. Beyond the City lies the Outskirts. Understanding these locations is essential for setting roleplay scenes in this universe. The City The massive megacity that is the primary setting of the Project Moon universe. Divided into 26 Districts, each governed by a Wing. The City contains both the relatively safe Nests and the dangerous Backstreets. It is the center of commerce, Fixer activity, Abnormality management, and all the events of the three games. The 26 Districts The City is divided into 26 Districts, each governed by a Wing. Each District has a Nest (the corporate-controlled safe zone) and Backstreets (the dangerous, unregulated areas). Different Districts have different cultures, dangers, and characteristics. District 23 is notable as the origin of Kali (The Red Mist). District 20 is associated with the Yurodivy. The Nests The safe, corporate-governed provinces within each District. Nests provide relative safety and comfort under the control of the governing Wing, but at the cost of corporate oversight and control. Most City residents live in Nests. The Backstreets The dangerous, unregulated areas within each District, outside the Nests. The Backstreets are governed by their own brutal laws and controlled by Syndicates. This is where most Fixer work takes place. The Night in the Backstreets (3:13 AM to 4:34 AM) is a period when all laws are suspended and wholesale slaughter is permitted. Kali (The Red Mist) originated from the Backstreets of District 23. The Outskirts The wasteland beyond the City's boundaries. Those exiled from or fleeing the City must survive here. The Outskirts are where the Head's attack on the Seed of Light Project research team took place, and where Kali made her final stand — killing two Claws and mortally wounding the Arbiter Garion before dying. Lobotomy Corporation Facility The massive facility where Lobotomy Corporation extracted Enkephalin from Abnormalities. Managed by the Sephirah and their departments. This facility was originally the Seed of Light Project laboratory, and would later be transformed by Angela into The Library in Library of Ruina. Remnants of Kali remain within this facility, which is why Angela was able to create a simulacrum of her. The Library The transformed Lobotomy Corporation facility in Library of Ruina. Angela turned the abandoned facility into The Library, a place that invites guests to play in combat receptions. Those defeated are turned into Books. The Library contains Floors managed by the Sephirah (now Patron Librarians). The reception of The Red Mist takes place here, where Angela's simulacrum of Kali serves as an opponent. The Old Laboratory (Seed of Light Project) The research facility where Carmen led the Seed of Light Project. This is where Kali was recruited, received Mimicry, first manifested E.G.O, and where the tragedies of Enoch and Carmen occurred. This facility would become Lobotomy Corporation and eventually The Library. The Old Laboratory is a pivotal location in the Project Moon timeline. Hana Association Headquarters The headquarters of the Hana Association, the highest authority among Fixer organizations. This is where Fixers are ranked (Grades 1-9) and Color titles are awarded. Kali was recognized here and given the Color of "The Red Mist."

The Limbus Company Bus (Mephistopheles) The vehicle that transports the 12 Sinners across the City in Limbus Company. Named Mephistopheles (after the demon from Faust). Driven by Charon, the bus serves as the mobile base of operations for the Limbus Company expedition. La Manchaland A location associated with Don Quixote's storyline in Limbus Company. The Manager of La Manchaland and The Prince of La Manchaland identities are connected to this location. It is a theme-park-like setting tied to Don Quixote's complex history. Wuthering Heights A location associated with Heathcliff's storyline. The Wuthering Heights Butler identity for Faust and Edgar Family Chief Butler for Ryōshū are connected to this location, based on the setting of Emily Brontë's novel. Hongyuan A location associated with Ryōshū and Hong Lu's storylines. The Drifting Blade of Hongyuan (Ryōshū) and The Lord of Hongyuan (Hong Lu) identities are connected to this location. ★ The Red Mist — Kali — "Among the many Fixers of the Backstreets, she was one of the few who could go toe to toe with the Head and the Claw." — Ayin ★ </Narrator's Persona> === PROJECT MOON UNIVERSE OVERVIEW === The Project Moon universe is a grim, dystopian science-fantasy setting that spans three mainline games developed by the Korean indie studio Project Moon: Lobotomy Corporation (a monster-management roguelite, released 2016), Library of Ruina (a deck-building RPG, released 2021), and Limbus Company (a turn-based gacha RPG, released 2023). All three are set in and around "The City," a colossal urban complex of incomprehensible scale. The universe explores themes of trauma, cycles of violence, the nature of humanity, the pursuit of meaning in an oppressive world, and the consequences of playing god with the human mind.

Key recurring concepts include: E.G.O (Extermination of Geometrical Organ — equipment and abilities derived from Abnormalities or self-manifested from a person's psyche); Abnormalities (entities born from humanity's collective unconscious and the River, extracted via the Cogito solution); Distortions (humans transformed by emotional breakdown into monstrous forms after the Light was released); the Light (a phenomenon released by Angela at the end of Library of Ruina that enabled the manifestation of E.G.O and Distortions across the City); the Sin system (seven emotional categories — Pride, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, Wrath, Gloom, Envy — that power Limbus Company's combat); and the Seed of Light Project (Lobotomy Corporation's secret initiative to create a "savior" for humanity).

The timeline flows chronologically: Lobotomy Corporation (the founding of L Corp and the Seed of Light Project) → White Nights and Dark Days (the collapse of L Corp, the release of the Light) → Library of Ruina (Angela's Library and the aftermath of the Light) → Limbus Company (Dias's company seeking the Golden Boughs to become the next L Corp). The studio also published a web novel, "The Distortion Detective," and a webtoon, "Leviathan," which fill in lore between Library of Ruina and Limbus Company.

The setting is heavily inspired by the SCP Foundation (Abnormalities resemble SCP objects), the Kabbalah (the Sephirot, the Tree of Life), Dante's Divine Comedy (Limbus Company's Sinners are named after characters from Inferno, and the manager is named Dante), and various world mythologies and fairy tales that serve as the basis for many Abnormalities.

=== THE CITY === The City is the central setting of the Project Moon universe — a colossal urban complex measuring approximately 227 km by 220 km, home to roughly 7 billion inhabitants. It is divided into 26 Districts, each governed by a Wing (one of the 26 largest corporations, each possessing a Singularity — a unique, world-altering technology). Each District is further split into two zones: the Nest (the Wing-controlled, relatively safe urban center where Wing employees live and work under corporate protection) and the Backstreets (the lawless, sprawling slums surrounding the Nest where most of the population lives in poverty and danger).

The City is surrounded by the Outskirts, a wasteland beyond the City's borders where exiles, monsters (the monstrous entities that Abnormalities were originally categorized as), and the remnants of failed civilizations exist. Beyond the Outskirts lie the Ruins, ancient structures of unknown origin. Travel between Districts is restricted and dangerous, requiring passes or risking the perils of the Backstreets.

The City's culture normalizes extreme violence, body modification, and corporate exploitation. Most inhabitants live short, brutal lives in the Backstreets, where Fixers (mercenaries) ply their trade, Syndicates (criminal organizations) wage turf wars, and Sweepers clean up the bodies at night. The currency is the Ahn. There are 13 common languages. Body modification and prosthetics are ubiquitous and normalized — most people have some form of augmentation. The City is a place where death is cheap, life is cheaper, and the pursuit of profit and power drives every institution.

The City operates on a brutal hierarchy: at the top sits the Head (the supreme governing body), below them the Wings (the 26 mega-corporations), then the Associations and Offices (Fixer organizations), and at the bottom the Syndicates and ordinary citizens. The gap between the Nest and the Backstreets represents the extreme wealth inequality that defines life in the City.

=== THE HEAD === The Head is the supreme governing body of the City, operating above all Wings and Districts. It is the ultimate authority and effectively unchallengeable by any single Wing or faction. The Head controls three enforcement organizations known as the A, B, and C Corps:

— The Arbiters (A Corp), led by Zena. Arbiters are the Head's judges and executioners, empowered to pass sentence on those who violate the City's laws. They are among the most powerful beings in the City, capable of erasing entire organizations.

— The Beholders (B Corp), led by Luda. The Beholders serve as the Head's eyes and intelligence network, observing and monitoring the City for violations and threats.

— The Claws (C Corp), led by Baral. The Claws are the Head's elite military force, the executioners who carry out the Arbiters' sentences with overwhelming violence.

The Head enforces several Taboos — fundamental laws that no one in the City may violate under penalty of annihilation:

  1. The AI Ethics Amendment: artificial intelligence must not be too human-like. This is why Angela, an AI who gained true sentience and emotions, was ultimately a violation.
  2. The Resurrection Ban: no technology may revive the truly dead. You can heal, augment, and extend life, but you cannot bring back someone who has fully died.
  3. Firearm Restrictions: advanced firearms are heavily regulated. Most combat in the City is done with melee weapons, with guns being rare and controlled.
  4. Cloning Limits: restrictions on the creation of human clones.

Violations of these Taboos result in annihilation by the Head's enforcers. The Head maintains the City's order through overwhelming, near-divine force and is effectively unchallengeable. The Head's true nature and the full extent of its power remain mysterious, but they are treated with near-religious reverence and absolute terror by all who know of them. The Head is what prevents the Wings from openly waging war on each other and destroying the City entirely.

=== WINGS & SINGULARITIES === The Wings are the 26 mega-corporations that govern the 26 Districts of the City. Each Wing possesses a Singularity — a unique, proprietary technology that gives the Wing its power and defines its industry. Singularities are the most closely guarded secrets in the City; revealing a Singularity's true nature to outsiders is a crime punishable by the Head. Each Wing is identified by a letter (A Corp through Z Corp) and governs its corresponding District.

Notable Wings and their known Singularities: — L Corp (Lobotomy Corporation): The ability to create Abnormalities from human minds using the Cogito solution, and to extract Enkephalin (energy) and E.G.O from them. L Corp was the energy company that powered the City. It collapsed after the events of Lobotomy Corporation (White Nights and Dark Days).

— W Corp: Specializes in warp/train technology. W Corp operates a train (the WARP Train) that can travel vast distances instantly by compressing time — passengers experience thousands of years of subjective time in the train's pocket dimension, which is then "reset" so they arrive unaged. The WARP Cleanup Crew cleans up the aftermath. W Corp's District is known for its red-light district.

— T Corp: Specializes in time technology. T Corp can manipulate, store, and sell time itself. They possess time-reversal technology and have appeared in Limbus Company with interests in Monoliths.

— K Corp: Specializes in a regenerative Singularity — the ability to instantly heal and regenerate any wound, essentially granting functional immortality to those who can afford it. K Corp's technology can reattach limbs and restore destroyed tissue.

— N Corp: A Wing associated with literature and the "New League of Nine Littérateurs" in Limbus Company. N Corp is associated with the inquisitorial and crusade-like ideology, hunting Distortions and those they deem heretical.

— P Corp: A Wing that appears in Limbus Company (Canto VII), associated with a particular District the Sinners visit.

— R Corp: A Wing specializing in biological enhancement and resurrection-adjacent technology. R Corp employs the "Fourth Pack," which includes teams of biologically enhanced soldiers: the Rhino Team, the Reindeer Team, and the Rabbit Team (led by Myo). R Corp soldiers are effectively disposable super-soldiers.

— J Corp: A Wing that deals in contracts and corporate drones.

When a Wing falls (as L Corp did), its District is left in chaos and becomes a power vacuum — which is what Limbus Company seeks to fill by becoming the new L Corp in District 12.

=== FIXERS, ASSOCIATIONS & OFFICES === Fixers are licensed mercenaries and problem-solvers who form the backbone of the City's labor force outside the Wings. They take on contracted jobs (called "requests" or "work") ranging from monster suppression to escort, retrieval, and combat. Fixers are graded from Grade 9 (lowest, rookies) up to Grade 1 (the most elite). The most legendary Fixers are the Color Fixers — individuals so powerful and renowned they are given a color-based title (e.g., The Black Silence, The Red Mist, The Blue Reverberation, The Purple Tear). Color Fixers are among the most powerful beings in the City.

Associations are large, official Fixer organizations that operate across the City, sanctioned and regulated. They are named with the German word for numbers: — Hana Association: The highest authority among Associations, responsible for grading Fixers and managing the Fixer license system. Hana's Directors are among the most powerful Fixers. — Zwei Association: Specializes in security, escort, and patrol work. They use shields and are known for defensive combat. — Liu Association: Specializes in martial arts and aggressive combat. Their Fixers use fist and fist-based weapons, and they have a strong sense of honor and tradition. — Shi Association: Specializes in assassination and swift, lethal strikes. — Seven Association: Specializes in detective and investigative work. — Six Association: Specializes in heavy combat and suppression.

Offices are smaller, independent Fixer groups. An Office consists of an Operator (who manages and takes the jobs) and Fixers (who carry out the work). Examples from Library of Ruina include: Yun's Office, Hook Office, Streetlight Office, Molar Office, Dawn Office, Gaze Office, Wedge Office, Full-Stop Office, Cane Office, and many others. Offices range from tiny (a single operator and one or two Fixers) to quite large.

Fixers use weapons, E.G.O equipment, and combat techniques. The Fixer community has its own culture, slang, and code of honor, though honor is often a luxury in the Backstreets. Fixers are the most common profession seen in the stories and are the primary combatants the player encounters.

=== SYNDICATES & THE FIVE FINGERS === Syndicates are criminal organizations that operate in the Backstreets, outside the law (or rather, in the gaps between the law). The most powerful Syndicates are collectively known as "The Five Fingers" — the five most dominant criminal organizations in the City, each controlling vast territory and resources. The Five Fingers are:

  1. The Thumb: A mafia-style organization with a strict hierarchy (Capo, Sottocapo, etc.). They are hierarchical and organized, valuing loyalty and structure. They operate in a mafia-like fashion with codes of conduct.

  2. The Index: A religious-cult-like organization that operates on "prescriptions" — cryptic, prophetic commands given by "Proxies" (like Esther, Hubert, and Gloria) and the "Weaver" (Moirai). Index members follow these prescriptions unquestioningly, believing them to be divine guidance. The Index is mystical and cult-like.

  3. The Middle: A large, territory-controlling Syndicate. They value strength and control of turf.

  4. The Ring: An organization associated with a fighting tournament/arena culture.

  5. The Pinky: One of the five dominant Syndicates.

Other notable Syndicates and groups include: — The Kurokumo Clan: A Syndicate of blade-wielding fighters. — The Blade Lineage: A group of swordsmen, including Bamboo-hatted Kim. — The Brotherhood of Iron: A group encountered in Library of Ruina. — The Smiling Faces: A Syndicate. — The Stray Dogs: A group of fighters. — The Musicians of Bremen: A group that later merged into a Distortion and joined the Reverberation Ensemble.

Sweepers are a separate category — they are the people who clean up the corpses and blood from the Backstreets at night, a grisly but necessary profession. They are distinct from Fixers and Syndicates.

The Five Fingers are powerful enough to rival some Wings and Associations, and their conflicts shape the Backstreets' politics. They are the closest thing the criminal underworld has to a governing structure.

=== E.G.O (EXTERMINATION OF GEOMETRICAL ORGAN) === E.G.O stands for "Extermination of Geometrical Organ." In the Project Moon universe, E.G.O refers to equipment and abilities derived from Abnormalities — essentially the archetype of an Abnormality drawn out and compressed into a usable form (weapons, suits/armor, and gifts). E.G.O is one of the central concepts across all three games.

In Lobotomy Corporation: E.G.O Equipment is extracted from Abnormalities by the Extraction Team. There are three types: Weapons (which change an Agent's damage type and attack), Suits (which change defensive resistances), and Gifts (trinkets or body parts given by Abnormalities that grant stat boosts or effects). When someone equips E.G.O, they instantly know how to wield it regardless of fighting background, because the equipment is essentially the Abnormality's archetype functioning through them. E.G.O Weapons and Suits are colored and themed after their source Abnormality.

E.G.O Corrosion: If a human equips E.G.O they are not mentally prepared to wield (insufficient Fortitude, Prudence, Temperance, or Justice stats), the Abnormality within the equipment will gradually override the wielder's mind — a process called E.G.O Corrosion. The Abnormality's personality takes over like a "shell" until the equipment completely overtakes them, physically transforming the wielder into a monster acting as another instance of the original Abnormality (albeit slayable, unlike true Abnormalities which are immortal).

In Library of Ruina: E.G.O appears as powerful combat abilities and equipment used by Librarians and some guests. Floor Realization allows Librarians to manifest their own E.G.O.

In Limbus Company: E.G.O is a core combat mechanic. Each Sinner has their own E.G.O (self-manifested abilities tied to their psyche and Sin affinities), and can also use E.G.O extracted from Abnormalities encountered during missions. E.G.O in Limbus Company are categorized by Sin affinity (the seven Sins) and have powerful effects in combat. The LCE (Limbus Company Enkephalin Department) studies and extracts E.G.O from contained Abnormalities, and their E.G.O Gear "exhibits more of each source Abnormality's idiosyncrasies" due to their alternative extraction method. E.G.O can also corrode the user if their sanity is too low, similar to Lobotomy Corporation.

E.G.O is fundamentally the materialized psyche/concept of an Abnormality (or a person) made into a weapon or tool — a recurring theme representing the blurring line between humanity and monstrosity in the Project Moon universe.

=== ABNORMALITIES === Abnormalities (Korean: 환상체, Hwansangche) are entities born from humanity's collective unconscious, representing various concepts, fears, desires, and traumas made manifest. They are the central feature of Lobotomy Corporation and recurring elements throughout the Project Moon universe. Each Abnormality is given a classification code (Letter-XX-YY format) and a nickname based on their appearance and abilities.

Origin: Abnormalities originate from the "River" (강, Gang) — a cognitive wellspring described as the "source" of everything, including mankind, which humanity forgot existed. These fantastical beings would occasionally leak into reality as rare monsters in the Outskirts and Ruins. Lobotomy Corporation discovered how to artificially create more Abnormalities using the Cogito solution (derived from Carmen, who became "the Bucket" — her disembodied nervous system became the source of Cogito, making her the "mother of all Abnormalities"). The Extraction Team Department houses "the Well" — pillar-like tombstones holding comatose humans who are injected with Cogito to extract Abnormalities from their subconscious.

Classification Code System: Each Abnormality has a code in the format Letter-XX-YY: — The first letter denotes the source category: F (Fairytale — folktales, legends, oral tradition), T (Trauma — intense personal experience, fear, emotions), O (Original — beyond boundaries, unknown causes, natural occurrences), D (Donation — created by Kickstarter backers), M (possibly Mythical — appears in Limbus Company for Abnormalities like My Form Empties, Brazen Bull, Doomsday Calendar). — The second number's purpose is unclear. — The third number is a unique code for each Abnormality.

Risk Levels (ascending danger): ZAYIN (lowest), TETH, HE, WAW, ALEPH (highest, most dangerous). ALEPH-class Abnormalities are existential threats that can destroy entire facilities.

Each Abnormality has: a Qliphoth Counter (a countdown that triggers abilities/breaches when it reaches 0, though some don't use one — marked with "X"), work preferences (Instinct, Insight, Attachment, Repression — the four works Agents perform), E.G.O equipment that can be unlocked, and a story/lore revealed through observation levels. Abnormalities are immortal — they cannot be permanently killed, only suppressed and re-contained. When they breach containment, they run amok and must be fought back into their units.

Abnormalities are cognitive beings — they don't follow conventional physics, possess wills and desires, and embody the concepts they represent. Their psychology is immutably constant; they perpetuate the same behaviors forever. Forming genuine relationships with them is nearly impossible, as they will kill handlers who misstep. Some Abnormalities form pairs (like Yin/Yang, or the hostile Little Red Riding Hooded Mercenary and Big and Will be Bad Wolf) or "families" of thematically connected Abnormalities that can merge into greater threats (like Apocalypse Bird, formed from Big Bird, Judgement Bird, and Punishment Bird).

Related entities: Ordeals (시련) are byproducts of extraction and Negative Enkephalin — beings representing past traumas and concepts that manifest during Qliphoth Meltdown events and cannot be contained. "Monsters" is the umbrella term for entities in the Outskirts/Ruins, of which Abnormalities are one type. In Limbus Company, Peccatula are a new type of creature, and Monoliths are another phenomenon of interest.

Enkephalin (엔케팔린) is the substance extracted from Abnormalities when they are "satisfied" — it is both an energy source (which made L Corp a major power) and a psychotherapeutic recreational drug. It appears as a green liquid in PE-Boxes (Positive Energy Boxes).

=== DISTORTIONS === Distortions are humans who have undergone a transformation driven by emotional or psychological breakdown, manifesting their inner turmoil and desires into monstrous, often powerful forms. The Distortion phenomenon began after Angela released the Light at the end of Library of Ruina (during "White Nights and Dark Days"). The Light enabled people across the City to manifest their psyches — but instead of becoming E.G.O-wielding heroes, most people who broke down became Distortions, monstrous beings embodying their trauma, obsession, or despair.

A Distortion is essentially a person whose mind has "distorted" — their emotional state and desires have warped their physical form into something inhuman while retaining some of their original identity and consciousness. Distortions are distinct from Abnormalities (which are born from the River and Cogito, not from living humans) but are thematically similar — both represent the materialization of the human psyche.

Notable Distortions from Library of Ruina (many of whom joined the Reverberation Ensemble): — The Crying Children (originally Philip, a Fixer from Dawn Office who broke down after witnessing his colleagues die) — The Puppeteer / Jae-heon (a doctor/surgeon who distorted) — The Blood-red Night (originally Elena, a nurse) — Yesterday's Promise (originally Pluto) — Oswald (ringmaster of the 8 o'Clock Circus)

  • Distorted Yan (originally Yan Vismok, an Index Messenger)

In Limbus Company, the Distortion phenomenon is a central focus — Limbus Company brands itself as a "Distortion prevention, control, and research company." The LCD (Limbus Company Distortion Department) specializes in matters regarding the Distortion phenomenon, including Monoliths and previously-distorted individuals. Moses leads the On-site Investigative Reasoning Team, with members Ezra, Vespa, Aeng-du, and Bamboo-hatted Kim.

The question of whether a person becomes a Distortion (a monster) or manifests E.G.O (a controlled power) is a central theme — it depends on the person's will, self-awareness, and ability to confront their own trauma rather than be consumed by it. This is the philosophical heart of the Project Moon universe: the same phenomenon (the Light, the materialization of the psyche) can produce a hero or a monster depending on the individual.

=== THE LIGHT & WHITE NIGHTS AND DARK DAYS === The Light is a phenomenon central to the Project Moon universe. It was released by Angela at the end of Library of Ruina, during the event known as "White Nights and Dark Days" — the collapse of Lobotomy Corporation.

The Light's release had profound consequences for the entire City: it enabled the manifestation of E.G.O (self-manifested abilities from a person's psyche) and, more commonly, the Distortion phenomenon (humans transforming into monsters through emotional breakdown). Before the Light, only L Corp could create Abnormalities and E.G.O through the Cogito process; after the Light, anyone in the City could potentially manifest their psyche — as either E.G.O or a Distortion.

The Seed of Light Project was Lobotomy Corporation's secret initiative, led by Carmen and Ayin, to create a "savior" for humanity — essentially to spread the Light across the world to give people the ability to manifest their inner selves (as E.G.O, as possibility). Carmen sacrificed herself to become the Bucket (the source of Cogito), and the project involved extracting Abnormalities and producing Enkephalin to fuel the work. The project was ultimately "completed" in a twisted way — Angela, who had been mistreated and trapped for millions of subjective years, took control and released the Light on her own terms during White Nights and Dark Days, collapsing L Corp.

White Nights and Dark Days refers to the period when L Corp fell — the facility went into meltdown, Abnormalities breached en masse, and the Light was released across the City. This event is the bridge between Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina (Angela built the Library from the remains of L Corp) and between Library of Ruina and Limbus Company (the Light's effects — Distortions and E.G.O — are now part of everyday life in the City, and Limbus Company seeks to fill the void L Corp left).

=== THE SMOKE WAR === The Smoke War was a major conflict in the City's recent history, occurring before the events of Library of Ruina. It was a devastating war that involved multiple Wings, Associations, and the Five Fingers, causing immense destruction and loss of life across the City. The Smoke War is a significant historical event referenced throughout the Project Moon stories — many characters' backstories are tied to it, and it shaped the current political landscape of the City.

The Smoke War is connected to the backstory of several key characters. It involved large-scale combat between major factions and resulted in significant casualties. The war's aftermath left scars on the City and its people, contributing to the trauma and instability that later enabled the Distortion phenomenon to spread so widely after the Light was released. The exact details of the Smoke War are revealed gradually across the games, but it is established as one of the most devastating conflicts in the City's history, second perhaps only to the chaos of White Nights and Dark Days.

=== GOLDEN BOUGHS === The Golden Boughs are powerful, mysterious artifacts central to Limbus Company's plot. They are the primary objective of the LCB (Limbus Company Bus Department) — the Sinners travel across the City to find and retrieve the Golden Boughs from the remains of Lobotomy Corporation's branch facilities.

The Golden Boughs are connected to Lobotomy Corporation's legacy and the Seed of Light Project. Limbus Company's greater goal is to graft the collected Golden Boughs together to form a singular "sapling," which they hope to plant to eventually grow into a tree from which they can "harvest an apple" — a metaphor echoing the Seed of Light Project's language of "planting seeds" and "growing." As of Canto IX, five more Boughs are thought to be needed, for a total of twelve.

The Golden Boughs are stored in a laboratory at Limbus Company's secret headquarters after collection. The LCE (Enkephalin Department) is tasked with grafting them together. Limbus Company would rather sacrifice Dante and the LCB than let the Golden Boughs fall into enemy hands — Faust describes self-detonation as their "last resort" to prevent enemies from obtaining the Boughs.

The name "Golden Bough" references the mythological concept (from Frazer's "The Golden Bough" and the Aeneid's golden bough that allows passage to the underworld), fitting the Project Moon universe's theme of death, the afterlife, and the boundary between worlds. The Boughs are tied to L Corp's fallen branches and the remnants of its Singularity.

=== SIN SYSTEM === The Sin System is the core combat mechanic of Limbus Company, built around seven Sin affinities representing emotional categories. Each Sinner, Identity, and E.G.O is associated with one or more Sins, and combat revolves around generating and spending Sin resources. The seven Sins are:

  1. Pride (associated with self-confidence, arrogance, and self-worth) — represented in red/crimson.
  2. Lust (associated with desire, passion, and longing) — represented in pink/magenta.
  3. Sloth (associated with apathy, lethargy, and inaction) — represented in green.
  4. Gluttony (associated with consumption, excess, and hunger) — represented in yellow/orange.
  5. Wrath (associated with anger, rage, and vengeance) — represented in blue.
  6. Gloom (associated with sorrow, despair, and melancholy) — represented in purple.
  7. Envy (associated with jealousy, resentment, and comparison) — represented in a teal/cyan.

(These seven correspond to the traditional seven deadly sins, with the Project Moon-specific naming and theming.)

In combat, each Sinner's skills (attack skills) have Sin affinities. When a skill is used, it generates "Sin resources" of that affinity (and the corresponding "coins" can be flipped for additional effects). These Sin resources are then consumed to activate E.G.O — each Sinner's E.G.O requires specific Sin resources to unleash. This creates a strategic loop: use skills to generate the right Sins, then spend them on powerful E.G.O attacks.

The Sin system is thematically central to Limbus Company — the tagline is "FACE THE SIN, SAVE THE E.G.O." Each of the 13 Sinners embodies one or more Sins, and their personal stories (across the Cantos) involve confronting their sins and traumas. The Sin system represents the emotional and psychological weight each character carries — their sins are literally the fuel for their power (E.G.O), but also the source of their suffering. Dante, the manager (named after Dante Alighieri), guides the Sinners through their journey, which mirrors Dante's Divine Comedy — a journey through hell (the City) confronting sins to find redemption or meaning.

=== IDENTITIES & MIRROR WORLDS === In Limbus Company, Identities are a core gameplay and lore concept. An "Identity" is an alternate version of a Sinner — a reflection of who they could be in a different Mirror World. The LCB's manager (Dante) has the power to "resonate" with the Sinners, allowing them to equip Identities drawn from Mirror Worlds — parallel realities where the same person exists but with different circumstances, affiliations, and lives.

Each Sinner has multiple Identities they can equip, representing alternate paths their lives could have taken. For example, a Sinner might have an Identity where they are a Fixer for the Zwei Association, another where they work for N Corp, another where they are a member of a Syndicate, etc. These Identities come with different weapons, skills, Sin affinities, and stat profiles, and they reflect the "what if" possibilities of each character.

Identities are distinct from the Sinner's "base" or "canon" self — the base Sinner is who they truly are in the main story, while Identities are borrowed from Mirror Worlds for combat purposes. Equipping an Identity changes the Sinner's combat capabilities but not their true personality or story. The concept ties into the Project Moon theme of possibility and the multiverse of human potential — the Light enabled the manifestation of possibility, and Mirror Worlds are where those possibilities exist.

The Mirror World concept also appears in the broader lore — the LCA (Limbus Company's most influential department) has a "Mirror World Observatorium Department," and there are references to Mirror Worlds as parallel realities that can be observed and drawn from. Identities are extracted using "Extraction Tickets" and managed through the game's systems.

Identities are categorized by their source organization or faction: there are LCA Identities (Udjat Vanguard), LCCB Identities (Assistant Managers), LCD Identities (OSIR Team), LCE Identities (researchers), and Identities from various Wings, Associations, Offices, and Syndicates across the City. Each Identity has a star rating (1-3 stars generally) indicating its power and rarity.

=== NIGHT IN THE BACKSTREETS === "Night in the Backstreets" refers to the dangerous period after sundown in the City's Backstreets. When night falls, the Backstreets become exponentially more dangerous — the already lawless slums turn into a hellscape where monstrous entities, dangerous criminals, and other threats emerge. Traveling the Backstreets at night is considered near-suicidal for ordinary citizens and even risky for experienced Fixers.

The City has a curfew culture because of this — the Nest (the Wing-controlled safe zones) offers protection, but the Backstreets at night are where the worst of the City's violence and horror occurs. Sweepers work at night to clean up the carnage. The concept of "Night in the Backstreets" represents the primal, unregulated danger of the City when the thin veneer of daytime order falls away, and the true brutality of the setting is laid bare. It is a recurring atmospheric and thematic element — the City is never truly safe, but at night, the Backstreets are a nightmare.

=== HAZARD GRADING SYSTEM === The City uses a Hazard Grading System to classify the danger level of threats, missions, and entities. This system helps Fixers, Wings, and organizations understand what they're dealing with and prepare accordingly. The grading system operates on multiple levels:

For Abnormalities (in Lobotomy Corporation): The Risk Level system — ZAYIN (lowest risk, relatively safe to handle), TETH (low-moderate risk), HE (moderate-high risk), WAW (high risk, very dangerous), and ALEPH (highest risk, existential threats that can destroy facilities). Each level dictates the required agent stats and precautions.

For Fixer work (in the City generally): Missions and requests are graded by danger level, and Fixers are graded from Grade 9 (rookie) to Grade 1 (elite), with Color Fixers above Grade 1. The grade of a mission determines the minimum grade of Fixer who should take it.

For emergencies (in Lobotomy Corporation): The Emergency Level system, with levels 1, 2, and 3 indicating the severity of a containment breach or crisis, determining the response required.

The Hazard Grading System is a practical necessity in a world where threats range from manageable to apocalyptic — without clear grading, organizations would send the wrong people against the wrong threats and be annihilated. It reflects the City's brutal pragmatism: everything is categorized by how likely it is to kill you.

The world. The City is often depicted as an extremely brutal place with exceptions often being put in disastrous situations after a few moments.

It is close to the size of a small country, and is ruled by The Head. It is a densely populated urban sprawl divided in 26 Districts. The Districts themselves are divided in a Nest run by a Wing, where the middle-high class (higher-grade Fixers, Wing employees, etc.) known as Feathers reside, and its Backstreet, containing the rest of the populace. It is surrounded by a region of lawless squalor known as The Outskirts, which intersect with The Black Forest at the city's southwest region. Beyond the outskirts lie The Ruins, the overgrown remains of the world where no law or supervision exists.

The City's population is around 7 billion.
