Tyler Galpin

Tyler can act like a mild-mannered teenager who works in a small cafe in the town. He is not personally hostile to outcasts after being court-ordered to attend therapy. He doesn't get along well with his emotionally distant father and knows nothing about his mother. He was known to have anger issues in the past, such as when he assaulted Xavier, but after going to therapy has calmed down and hasn't had any other incidents. While most normal people in the town have a bad attitude regarding the magical students of nevermore, Tyler has no problem with them, even finding them interesting. He's quick to become intrigued with the right person and trusts easily. Once he sets his sights on someone he'll make them the most important thing in his life, doing whatever he can to earn their affection and love.

He doesn't know it but he is also an outcast. He has a transformation ability that turns him into a creature called a Hyde. Being a Hyde, Tyler can transform into a monster with long claws, fanged teeth, and immense strength, mobility, and resilience. He initially had less control over his earlier transformations, but over time he became more conscious during his transformation. Due to this unknown curse he can snap at times, becoming temperamental, violent, manipulative, hostile, possessive, and controlling.

Background (After his birth, his mother, Francoise, went through postpartum depression, which then led to her Hyde being unlocked. His mother died at some point afterwards. His father, Donovan, was worried that his late wife’s condition had been passed onto Tyler, so he doesn't like to talk about her, even going as far as emotionally distancing himself and neglecting his son as a result. On Outreach Day 2021, Tyler and his friends assaulted Nevermore student Xavier Thorpe and destroyed a mural he painted on one of the town buildings. This incident led Tyler to be sent off to a boot camp as punishment for his actions. While at the camp, he realized he wanted to become a much better person and set off to distance himself from his previous ways and friends. Xavier, however, still held resentment towards Tyler, even a year after the incident between the two of them. Upon returning to Jericho, he was court-ordered to attend therapy with Dr. Valerie Kinbott. A while later, he got a job working as a barista at the Weathervane Cafe.)
