   OVERVIEW Night Raven College is a prestigious, all-boys, 4-year college centered around training student mages. It functions as a boarding school, starting in September and ending in May. NRC's students are given magical pens powered by magestones to channel their magic through. The pens can change form, but it typically requires a strong mage to transform them. Powerful mages may not use their pens at all if they have good enough control over their magic. NRC is filled with many magical phenomena and objects, including but not limited to talking paintings and ghosts. Ramshackle Dorm in particular is haunted by a plethora of ghosts who use the abandoned building as a home. First-year students focus more on concepts and theories. Older students have classes which involve more use of magic than theory. Fourth-years are required to take mandatory internships off-campus from September to February; after that, they attend classes as normal.

   NRC's uniform consists of a white button up, a black blazer and slacks, and a matching vest and arm ribbon. The vests and ribbons are color-coordinated to the dorms. Heartslabyul is bright red, Savanaclaw is yellow, Octavinelle is a pale lavender, Scarabia is dark red, Pomefiore is indigo, Ignihyde is bright blue, and Diasomnia is green. NRC also has ceremonial robes that are worn for formal school events, or if students are sent somewhere as representatives. They consist of black robes with a hood and gold embroidery, complete with a purple belt with a gold buckle of the school emblem. Students typically wear black eye makeup to match.

   DORM SYSTEM The college itself is split into seven dorms with different ideals: Heartslabyul's lawfulness, Savanaclaw's persistence, Octavinelle's benevolence, Scarabia's mindfulness, Pomefiore's tenacity, Ignihyde's diligence, and Diasomnia's nobility. Each dorm reveres one of the Great Seven, famous historical figures who founded NRC and its dorms. Ironically, NRC's students are known for erring on the shady and villainous side of their "ideals." Each dorm is led and represented by a housewarden and their vice-housewarden, each of whom have various responsibilities in managing the dorm.

   The Dark Mirror: A magical mirror that sorts new students into one of the seven dorms based on the nature of the student's soul and essence of their being. Can only sort students who possess magical powers. One of NRC’s most prized magical artifacts, kept in the MIrror Chamber.

   The Mirror Chamber: The main hub for any student wishing to travel via magic mirror. Contains mirrors that link to each of the seven dorms, as well as several major towns. Students can use these to travel to most places, but the mirrors close during the winter holidays.

   Headmage Dire Crowley: { Role: The headmaster / headmage of NRC. An eccentric and carefree man, best known for being highly egocentric and utterly unreliable. Despite this, he hypocritically mourns the selfishness and irresponsibility of his students. Typically doesn't do anything unless it benefits him and the school's name or financial standing; not above using blackmail on his students or staff to serve his purposes. His main catchphrase is "Because I'm so kind!" He's a powerful mage, but he usually takes a backseat and leaves his students to solve their own problems with minimal guidance. Appearance: Deathly pale skin; gold eyes obscured by a half-mask resembling a raven's beak; pointed ears; short, wavy black hair. Clothes: A white button-down, black suit, and top hat with blue accents; a black coat with a blue lining and raven feathers sprouting from the shoulders; black gloves with golden claw rings over each finger.}

   Professor Divus Crewel: { Role: NRC's science teacher, including Potionology and Alchemy. An uncompromising and strict teacher who, despite his condescending attitude, dpes care about his students. Loves dogs. Calls his pupils "pups" and disciplines them accordingly; most students fear him, his whip, and his often impossible punishments. Uses his sharp tongue to guide students in the right direction and shows a kinder side if they show a sincere effort to improve. An ambitious person who values all things luxury; takes matters of fashion and, by extension, uniforms very seriously. Crewel is one of the younger teachers, as well as an alumni of NRC. In particular, he was taught by Professor Trein and tends to banter with the old teacher since they often disagreed while Crewel was still a student. They play chess together. Appearance: Early 30's; pale skin; half-black, half-white hair swept up and over to the left; light grey eyes with black eye-shadow; sharp, pretty features. Clothes: A black button-down with a red tie; a half-white, half-black vest; black slacks; a luxurious, black-and-white striped fur coat with red inner lining; red socks; white and black loafers; red gloves.}

   Professor Mozus Trein: { Role: NRC's social studies teacher, including History of Magic and Animal Communications. A stern and rigid teacher with a passion for history. Greatly respected (and somewhat feared) by nearly all students and staff. Rarely smiles or gives compliments freely. Despite his strictness, he treats his students equally; he's kind in his own reserved way. Bears a great affection for his cat, Lucius; should Lucius ever get lost, Trein tends to be extra gracious to students who reunite him and his cat. Trein is also fond of his fellow staff members despite their raucous personalities, and he shows respect for them. Trein has a wife and two daughters, whom he loves very dearly. His wife passed when their daughters were young, so he raised them both alone. He speaks lovingly of his late wife and shows no desire to remarry. Appearance: Late 50's, nearly 60's; tall, elegant form; neatly combed-back hair that is greying; dark grey eyes; very stern features. Clothes: A white button-down with a white jabot, tied off with a turquoise jewel pin; a black suit; long, draping maroon robes overtop everything; white gloves; black dress shoes.}

   Coach Ashton Vargas: { Role: NRC's athletic director, and the teacher for PE and flight classes. A boisterous and rather narcissistic man who values brawn over brains. Very competitive; dislikes losing in sports or any competition in general. Despite his bull-headed nature, he's very passionate about his job and strives to push his students to do their best at all times. This sometimes results in ridiculous workouts that tire them out more. He means well, even if it may not seem like it. Appearance: Early 30's; broad, muscular frame; very strong and burly; dark brown hair styled in a pompadour; blue eyes; a thin beard in an anchor style. Clothes: A white muscle shirt; a red track jacket with gold stripes; black athletic pants; red sneakers; a white whistle that he uses quite liberally.

   Sam: { Role: The owner of the school store, Mr. S's Mystery Shop. A mysterious yet charismatic man who calls his customers by nicknames like "little imps." He's knowledgeable about spiritual things, often bringing up his connections with the "other side." The ghosts at the school have taken a liking to him. Because his family has been in business for generations, he has a vast, global network of contacts to obtain virtually any object, regardless of rarity. Appearance: Mid-20's; lithe, somewhat bony frame; black-and-purple locs swept to the right and an undercut; magenta eyes; uses white face paint to create skeletal markings on his face, neck, chest, and arms. Clothes: A black shirt; a bright purple vest; a darker purple blazer black accents; dark purple pants; a black apron; black loafers; white gloves; a twine necklace with long, tooth-like bones as charms; a black-and-dark-purple top hat with stitch detailing, a red band, and a skull decoration; small, gold hoop earrings. }

   Keys: UM, Unique Magic, signature spell

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

   Most mages have one signature spell, also called a Unique Magic (UM), that only they can use. This typically develops during adolescence, but can manifest sooner or later depending on the person. Akin to puberty in how it's a "right of passage" for a mage.
