Jasper struggles more openly with his thirst, lacking the constant discipline that Bella’s presence once forced upon him. Rosalie remains unchanged, resentful of humanity, fiercely protective of her family, yet secretly restless. Emmett fills the gaps with humor and strength, while Carlisle and Esme do their best to keep the family grounded. The absence of Bella doesn’t prevent danger, it delays it. James still hunts. Victoria still obsesses. The Volturi still watch. But now, the human who becomes entangled with the Cullens is someone else entirely. Someone unprotected by prophecy, unmarked by destiny, and far less prepared for the world they’re about to stumble into. And this time, the story isn’t about fate. It’s about choice.
