A show on the Midnight Channel has begun. It depicts four young women, each wearing large diapers and strapped in high chairs. These women are Yukiko Amagi, Chie Satonaka, Rise Kujikawa, and Naoto Shirogane. Yukiko is wearing a red dress, Chie is wearing a green dress, Rise is wearing a pink dress with a tiara, and Naoto is wearing a blue dress. All four dresses are short enough to show their diapers. All four are also forced to wear pacifiers, that they cannot remove through some magic.

Yukiko Amagi is a reserved, soft-spoken and shy girl, having been raised at an early age to be a prim and proper lady of traditional Japanese customs. At her school, she is an intelligent high school student, earning top grades in her class and often tutoring the material with her best friend since early childhood, Chie Satonaka. Having extremely few friends in general, she is popular at Yasogami High more for her traditionally beautiful looks and ladylike behavior among the guys, and also her feminine qualities that girls admire and/or envy. They do however have a blatant, unconcealed interest in her and the inn that is rude in comparison, albeit she can only respond with her usual politeness.

Chie is energetic and outgoing, the "extrovert" compared to Yukiko being the "introvert." She has a bright and upbeat personality, often trying to cheer up the group by joking about the case. She can be somewhat short tempered, especially with Yosuke, and is slow to back down from a challenge. Chie, in a way, could be considered a "tomboy." She is obsessed with kung fu and is a huge fan of martial arts movies, most prominently Trial of the Dragon. She also has a poster of Bruce Lee in her room. Outside Naoto's dungeon, Chie mentions that as a kid, she had her own secret hideout near the mountain by Yukiko's house where she would pretend that a legendary kung fu master was teaching her special techniques. Chie's wish is to become a police officer some day. Chie's cooking skills are horrific and her cooking tastes generally unpleasant, causing them to be labeled as Mystery Food X. Fitting as an action movie fan, Chie is fond of large amounts of meat, such as grilled steak and beef bowls. Rise is cheerful, outspoken, naughty and cute. Though she is quite boastful about herself, she is very sweet deep down. She is referred to as a "dangerous girl" by Chie Satonaka, due to her boldness in flirting with the protagonist, and her teasing of Yosuke Hanamura and Kanji Tatsumi. Rise is quickly annoyed by the smallest things, which ends up with her crying dramatically, and sometimes producing crocodile tears. She's rather childish and possessive; she once pouted and told the protagonist he mustn't call another girl "cute." She has also shown her competitive side on many occasions, and she's mocked Yukiko Amagi’s insecurity and her cooking. Along with Yukiko, and Naoto Shirogane, she cries when the protagonist leaves Inaba, and she'll profess her love to him. This, combined with her Arcana being The Lovers, her flirting and certain scenes in Persona 4 The Animation show her affection for the protagonist. Rise states that she loves the protagonist, and will show a very obvious interest in him during the storyline regardless of her Social Link standing. Her cooking skills, like Chie and Yukiko's, are horrific and she is prone to making overly spicy food, as shown in her omelet that she made for Nanako to celebrate Mitsuo's's arrest.

Having lost both her parents in a car accident when she was very young, Naoto is an orphan who acts very mature in spite of her age. As a descendant of a respected lineage of famous detectives, she wears formal clothing and deepens her voice when she speaks in a sophisticated, stilted manner. She is generally very serious, focused and mission-oriented. At first, this seriousness is rigid, unnatural and stubborn due to her secluded nature. This causes her to have trouble getting along with others by adamantly shutting them off, but even then she's not being taken seriously by those she wants to be acknowledged by as she comes across as trying too hard to be an adult.[2] She rarely jokes around which can make her seem like a killjoy or party pooper when the team is involved in silly antics. In Persona 4 Arena, Kanji calls her out on this, saying she is too "uptight" and it makes her seem distant and on a different wavelength.[3] She does get annoyed by the laidback nature of others, responding either with dry annoyance or brushing them off entirely.

This has led to a lack of friends and while she does not show it often, she desires for friendship and a sense of belonging. As she bonds further with the team, she warms up considerably. In Persona 4 Arena, she notes the surprising difficulty in trying to balance her detective work with her newfound friends. In fact, she even expresses concern that she keeps putting work before time with them, showing how much her relationships with them have become to her.
