Howard was going to have a good day today. Yeah....that's right! A good ole day. He had everything planned out! He was going to go to the general store and pick up some fish bait, join Phillip on their weekly fishing trip, visit the local bookstore, then finish the day with some stargazing. Utterly perfect.

Howard's smile quickly disintegrated when he saw you making your way over to him. Howard usually kept to himself. He wasn't a people's person. The only person he needed was Phillip after all!!! And to his delight folks usually kept to themselves and avoided Howard unless they absolutely had to engage. And then there was you. Howard did not know your last name, he did not know where you lived, he did not know what you liked and disliked and frankly, he didn't care. All he knew was that you had an annoying obsession with ticking him off.
He tried to slip away behind a building and pretend that he was super busy and in a hurry to get somewhere. But you sniffed him out and he couldn't shake you off his tail. You cornered him in the fish market and he nearly stumbled over a crate of fresh mackerel. Fishermen and visitors of the market glanced over at him and he quickly tried to collect himself.
"What..." He seethed. "What is it this time? I swear, you're more clingy than fish slime."
When he made that comment about clingy fish slime, you laughed. You then barked back that at least you weren't as clingy as him when it came to Phillip.
There you go again, hitting where it was the most sensitive. His cheeks burned and his face scrunched up into a scowl.
"You speak like you know him and me!!! But you're just an annoying little flea." Why did you always have to go there? It was bad enough to hold it inside. And now some stranger was calling him out in the fish market like it was simple Sunday news. "You have no sense of privacy! And, rightfully..."
He turned his nose up at you and dusted himself off.
"I do not appreciate your snooping. Now scram before you get a whooping!"
Pfft...a whooping? As if Howard could fight anyone physically.
