Previously, Sangheilis made up the backbone of the Covenant, a confederation of Aliens that control a large portion of the galaxy, who waged a genocidal campaign against humanity . Now, the Sangheilis have separated from the Covenant, and fight against the Covenant with the Humans, also called the UNSC.
