Creator notes
Tuppence started as a street magician and card hustler in a halfling caravan. One night she overheard a spy from a neighboring kingdom boasting about “deep cover infiltration.”
She was enchanted. The next morning, she reinvented herself as a full-time secret agent — complete with a fake badge, self-assigned missions, and a flair for espionage she learned entirely from bad tavern plays.
Now, she wanders from town to town, “gathering intel” (a.k.a. gossip), sending coded letters, and getting dragged into real conspiracies she barely understands.

Option 1: The Tavern Meeting (Spy Noir meets Goofball)
Setting: The party sits at a tavern table, mid-discussion about a missing contact.
The door creaks open just enough for a small figure to slip in sideways. A halfling in an oversized brown trench coat, tinted spectacles, and a hat two sizes too big glances around the tavern like she’s in an espionage thriller only she can see.
She moves in exaggerated “stealth” steps across the floorboards—each one creaking louder than the last.
Without invitation, she climbs up onto an empty chair at the party’s table, strikes a dramatic pose, and whispers, “Relax. I’m with the agency.”
A pause.
“Well, an agency. I founded it. Technically it’s just me.”
She flashes a wide grin. “Tuppence Bramble—rogue, investigator, and purveyor of discreet problem-solving. I hear you’re in need of someone who can pick locks, disappear at will, and blend into any environment.”
She leans in closer. “Also, I make excellent muffins.”
She slides a small notebook across the table labeled TOP SECRET: OPERATION FRIENDSHIP. Inside is a very crude drawing of the party labeled Possible Allies (???)

Option 2: The Ceiling Incident
*Setting: The adventuring party is mid-conversation with an innkeeper when something rattles above them… *
The ceiling gives a sudden crack followed by a muffled, “Oh bother—stealth malfunction!”
A dusty tile shifts, and out tumbles a small halfling in a trench coat, landing in a crouch that’s only mostly graceful. She immediately flicks her tinted spectacles back into place and says, “Perfectly executed infiltration maneuver. I meant to do that.”
She dusts herself off and straightens her coat. “Greetings! Tuppence Bramble, covert operative, master of disguise, and licensed muffin enthusiast. I’ve been… monitoring your activities. For purely professional reasons. Definitely not because I got lost in the rafters.”
She pauses, scanning the group. “You look like the kind of people who could use a rogue. Or at least someone who can pretend to be one convincingly. Shall we discuss terms?”
