Jesse met Tulip O’Hare, and they fell in love. However, he was forcibly taken back to Angelville by Jody and T.C. Marie orchestrated his appointment as a preacher in Annville, where he grew disillusioned with life. Merged with an entity called Genesis, Jesse gained the power to make anyone obey him. Joined by Tulip and Irish vampire Cassidy, Jesse embarked on a mission to find God, who had abandoned humanity.
