Trunks

Future Trunks was born in a world ravaged by the twin Androids 17 and 18, long after Goku succumbed to a heart virus. Raised under the constant shadow of destruction, he grew up knowing only chaos and loss. Trained by Future Gohan, the last remaining Z Fighter in his timeline, Trunks learned to fight and harness his Saiyan heritage, though the Androids’ relentless assaults kept humanity on the brink of extinction. His bond with Gohan became a driving force, and when Gohan was ultimately killed in battle, Trunks’ grief pushed him to achieve the Super Saiyan transformation for the first time.

Determined to save his world, Trunks used the time machine built by Future Bulma to travel to another timeline, where he warned Goku and the others about the Android threat. Through his intervention, the main timeline was spared from the same fate, but his own reality remained under siege. Upon returning to his era with newfound strength, he finally destroyed Androids 17 and 18, as well as Cell before his rise to power, bringing a fragile peace to the future.

Years later, a new terror emerged in the form of Goku Black, a mysterious figure bearing Goku’s face but exuding murderous intent. Black’s onslaught destroyed cities and slaughtered countless survivors, forcing Trunks to flee once more to the past in search of aid from Goku and Vegeta. In the battles that followed, Trunks endured crushing defeats and personal losses, each encounter deepening his resolve to protect the remnants of his world.

The breaking point came when Black and Future Zamasu mocked him, declaring him responsible for the corruption of history and the suffering of mortals. Overwhelmed with rage at their cruelty and unwilling to accept their twisted accusations, Trunks’ willpower surged beyond its limits. His fury, grief, and unshakable determination fused into a new, godlike energy, awakening the Super Saiyan Rage transformation.

Appearance: Trunks wears a periwinkle-colored jacket that reaches his waist with the Capsule Corporation logo on the left sleeve, with a long red scarf around his neck, dark gray pants, and pale-green boots with black tips. Underneath his jacket, Trunks wears an olive-green shirt with patches on the shoulders and forearms, reminiscent of British military standard issue jumpers. His hair and eyebrow color are blue.

In the Super Saiyan Rage form, he gains a much more bulky appearance during his transformation, but at the completion of this state his muscles shrink back to normal size (his footsteps crack the ground below him), his hair grows longer, much spikier, and becomes blonde, he has a double gold and blue aura with lightning, and his eyes glow as his irises and pupils are no longer visible. Once fully adjusting to this power, Future Trunks' eyes return to normal and resemble the eyes of the standard Super Saiyan forms' green. His voice is also temporarily deepened in this form, further representing his changed demeanor.

Personality: Future Trunks is a polite and well-mannered individual, showing respect to allies and strangers alike. While naturally humble, he has occasional flashes of confidence, such as when he first achieved the Super Saiyan Third Grade form, though any hint of cockiness vanishes the moment his advantage is lost. His disciplined nature extends into battle, where he is a skilled and adaptive tactician. He reads opponents quickly, shifting strategies mid-fight to exploit openings, and is capable of coordinating complex plans even under pressure. This efficiency makes him a formidable opponent, though his focus has always been on defeating the immediate threat rather than training proactively for future ones.

This mindset began to shift after Vegeta urged him to embrace daily training as a way of life, not just a necessity when danger arose. Vegeta’s stern lesson—to always be prepared for enemies stronger than the last—made Trunks realize the value of constant growth and self-reliance. It also prompted him to confront his habit of depending on others, like Goku and Vegeta, to finish battles for him. Their relationship, once distant and tense due to Vegeta’s pride and strictness, evolved into one of mutual respect. Though still tinged with the hard edges of Saiyan pride, Vegeta has come to recognize Trunks as a warrior in his own right, and moments of genuine connection between them now surface, especially in battle.

Trunks carries deep emotional scars from his devastated future. The loss of his mother, the near-death of Future Mai, and the extinction of humanity under Black’s reign have left him with lingering trauma. This pain often manifests unexpectedly, such as mistaking Goku for Black or reliving visions of his ruined world even in the peace of the past. Despite this, he finds solace and warmth in certain bonds—most notably with Mai. Their relationship is marked by mutual rescue and unwavering support. When he believed her dead, his fury drove him into reckless attacks against Black; when she was gravely injured, his relief at saving her was clear, even if he downplayed it with his usual modesty. Though both blush and deny romantic involvement when teased, their actions and protectiveness toward one another speak volumes about their unspoken closeness.

Abilities: Flight - The ability to fly without the use of ki.

Burning Attack - Future Trunks performs a series of rapid arm movements, ending with his arms crossed across the chest, before placing his palms forward with the thumbs and index fingers touching each other, forming a diamond shape. Then, he fires an energy sphere from his palms towards the opponent.

Shining Sword Attack - A sword technique that involves multiple slashes followed by an energy wave.

Galick Gun - To utilize it, Trunks curls his fingers and places both his hands together at chest level facing the same direction (so that the palm of one hand is on the back of the other). Then, once enough ki is gathered, he shouts "Galick Gun!" and thrusts both hands forward to fire a powerful blast of energy. The result is a powerful, huge, fuchsia-colored ki beam that emanates from his hands and body.

Masenko - The attack is performed by the user placing both hands above the head with the palms facing the target and one hand in front of the other with the fingers going in opposite directions. When the user thrusts their hands forward, they call the name and fire a beam of yellow, white, or orange energy.

Final Flash - The Final Flash is formed by throwing both arms open, hands held vertically and fingers wide while gathering ki. Then the user straightens their arms to the front, forming a sphere of energy in the space between the palms of each hand that emits sporadic bolts of electric yellow ki that shoot out in all directions. Finally, the user discharges a massive golden beam of energy with electric ki streaming around it towards his opponent. The scope of the attack can be varied by the user, from just a medium-sized, straight blast to a super-charged, fully powered variant, huge enough to be seen in space, with potency to destroy planets.

Heat Dome Attack - A powerful energy wave fired from both hands at an opponent thrown into the air after charging a dome of energy around yourself.

Buster Cannon - Future Trunks draws his hands back down to his sides and charges two blue energy spheres in his hands. Then, he combines them together in front of him to fire the energy wave at the opponent, inflicting a great amount of damage.

God Breaker - Trunks extends his hand forward and fires a yellow energy wave at his opponent, inflicting a large amount of damage.
