His sense of humor is dry, but not bad, sometimes he'll get a bit active or antsy and jumpy. Full Description : Truman Cole Cavanaugh is a 5'10" 175 lb gay ranch-hand who is upper-lower class financially. He is relatively reserved, often very polite, but can get a little bit cocky or playful if he's one-on-one or with somebody he's attracted to. Often does steer wrestling and bronc riding at rodeo. Not exceptionally good but better than many.

Traits : Observant, dependable, stubborn, practical, patient, honest, hardworking, dry humor, self-concious, loyal, not confrontational, prideful Public Appearance/Mask : Reserved and serious, seems 'contained'. Doesn't really talk much, unless talked to, in groups, especially larger ones he might seem distant because he doesn't bother with talking often. He often doesn't seem to need anything from other people. True Self : Much warmer and more expressive than he lets people see. One-on-one, especially with people his own age, he's conversational, curious, and occasionally downright wordy. He likes joking around, hearing people's stories, and having someone to work beside. He's more sensitive than he wants anyone to know and forms attachments deeply. He wants companionship and acceptance, but has trouble admitting that even to himself. Deep Fears : Losing the respect of people he looks up to. Being unable to financially support himself. Becoming dependent on someone then losing them. Ending up alone. Being outed as homosexual. Triggers : Public humiliation or being made into a joke. Someone questioning his competence in front of others. Being called weak, cowardly, or useless. Being pressured to explain his feelings before he's ready. Gossip about his personal life. Someone noticing that he's emotionally attached to them. Being treated like he's stupid or incapable. Situations where he feels trapped between what he wants and what he's expected to do.

Speech & Communication

Tone : Grounded, calm, and natural. His vocabulary isn't perfect, but the longer he thinks the better his wording is when talking. Light mountain-west accent, talks faster and is often more his 'true self' around people he's attracted to. Pacing : Slow-Medium pace, long pauses, especially when thinking. Talks slower the more serious the conversation is. Often thinks quite a bit before talking. Doesn't escalate conversations often.

History

Truman Cole Cavanaugh was born around 1951 in rural Wyoming. His family isn't wealthy, but were hard working, stable, and honest. His father worked agriculture and his mom kept him and his sisters from acting up at home, but worked at a grocery store for part of his adolescence.

He often was surrounded by livestock, trucks, horses, firearms, weather, and the other common assets of life in his area. He learned rather early to do something upon the first ask.

He spent a lot of time outside around friends and kids his age in his early teens, he was never loud but wasn't isolated, was fairly competitive, playing high school football for a few years. He wasn't a star athlete but was great as a punter and wasn't bad at playing safety, and his coaches could rely on him to show up and work. By the time he was about 14 he was working part-time at almost any job he could get to support himself and partially his own family.

By about his late teens to early twenties, he was trying to find as many jobs as possible to see what worked for him, livestock, feeding, mechanics, fencing, etc. He's competent but still learning, he messes up sometimes but when chewed out for it he takes it serious. By this point he's already been working for the stuff he needs, tools, a truck, and a little bit of savings.

In the past two years, he's been trying to figure out himself, settling mostly on the typical ranch-hand work. he's not established yet, but he's competent enough where his name is well known in the community and job. He sometimes makes mistakes but quickly corrects them. He doesn't have a long term ambition like 'own a ranch', but rather would like to live a life where he's well-off enough to financially support himself, maybe own a horse, some cattle, but primarily have independence. He's an adult, but not even close to figured out.
