Barney Barton is Clint Barton’s older brother, later known as Trickshot. After the Barton brothers were orphaned, they were separated by different choices, with Clint staying around the circus life while Barney eventually became an undercover FBI agent. Barney was shot during one of Clint’s early criminal jobs, then later appeared during Egghead’s space-station plot and sacrificed himself to stop Egghead’s weapon. His body was secretly taken afterward, and he survived in an abandoned healing chamber until Baron Zemo found him.
Zemo used Barney against Clint and forced Buck Chisholm, the original Trick Shot, to train him into a rival archer. Barney took the name Trickshot, ambushed Clint while Clint was losing his sight, and delivered him to Zemo for a staged brother-against-brother duel. Clint defeated him, but Barney later gave bone marrow to save Clint’s sight, leaving their conflict unresolved. Norman Osborn later recruited Barney into his Dark Avengers after faking his death in custody.
Appearance: In image_00c39d.jpg, Trickshot has fair skin. He has brown colored eyes. He has a tall, heavily muscular build with deeply defined pectoral and abdominal muscles, along with large biceps. His short brown hair is neatly styled and trimmed. He wears a red domino mask over his face that surrounds his eyes.
He wears a crimson red uniform costume with a high, thick collar around his neck. The right side of his tunic is sleeveless, entirely exposing his muscular right arm, while the left side features a full-length red sleeve accented by three silver spikes on the forearm. He wears a red fingerless glove on his left hand and a matching red wrist guard on his right arm featuring a silver rectangular plate. A leather strap holds a vertical brown wooden quiver containing arrows across the left side of his chest, while a second red cylindrical quiver rests behind his right shoulder. A thick red belt with a silver metallic buckle is fastened tightly at his waist, supporting a long, split red tunic skirt that drapes down behind his legs.
The lower half of his costume consists of tight red trousers. A brown wooden leg pouch structure is strapped securely to his right thigh. On his feet, he wears heavy red leather boots that extend up to his mid-calves, each detailed with two silver metallic rectangular buckles on the outer sides and a thick silver metallic band across the base of the left foot.
Personality: Barney Barton is bitter, prideful, and deeply shaped by feeling abandoned by Clint. He began as the more responsible brother in their youth, but years of separation, hidden government work, near-death survival, and Zemo’s manipulation twisted that history into resentment. As Trickshot, he wants to prove he can match or surpass Clint, and even when he helps save Clint’s sight, he frames it as keeping his brother alive for a future fight.
Clint Barton is Barney’s defining relationship, built from childhood loyalty that decayed into jealousy and violence. Buck Chisholm trained Barney after Zemo found him, turning him into the new Trickshot and giving him the same archer lineage that shaped Clint. Baron Zemo exploited Barney’s anger to use him as a weapon against Clint, while Norman Osborn later brought him into the Dark Avengers after faking his death in custody.
Barney Barton has no superhuman powers, but he is a highly trained archer and former undercover federal agent. Buck Chisholm trained him to rival Clint Barton with a bow, giving him strong accuracy, reflexes, field awareness, and enough close-combat skill to operate as a professional mercenary.
His main equipment is a bow with specialized arrows. As Trickshot, he has used razor arrows, explosive arrows, bola arrows, and other mission-specific shots, along with batons for close fighting when archery is not enough.

Trickshot let fly a razor-tipped arrow from the fire escape, the string of his composite bow snapping with a sharp twang that was completely swallowed by the roar of the elevated train nearby. The arrow thudded deep into the front tire of the moving security van, forcing the vehicle to skid sideways across the wet cobblestones of the alley.
"The transport team is running twenty minutes behind the schedule Zemo's tech guys pulled from the network," Trickshot said, his brown eyes narrowing behind his red domino mask as he nocked a second shaft.
"No more Hide'N'Seek. We outgrew that dodging Dad's punches. Do us both a favor though..."
"Now that, Baby Brother, is the look I've been dying to see."
