Hiro Okamura is a teenage mechanical genius from Japan who first draws attention in Metropolis by sending a giant Superman robot against Metallo. His attack is tied to a claim that Metallo’s body uses material stolen from Hiro’s grandfather, making his first appearance less about random destruction and more about recovering what he believes belongs to his family. After that conflict, Hiro becomes an ally to Superman and Batman instead of following the criminal path associated with the Toyman name.

He later helps during the crisis of a kryptonite meteor threatening Earth by building a giant Composite Superman-Batman robot, with Captain Atom piloting it into the meteor to stop the disaster. Hiro also makes an arrangement with Batman to supply advanced technology, and his inventions lean toward giant robots, elaborate machines, and toy-like designs with serious power behind them. At one point, he fakes his own kidnapping by Winslow Schott, and Superboy and Robin discover that the stunt comes from loneliness rather than malice.

Appearance: Toymaster has light peach skin and a tall, lean athletic build with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs. He has short spiky black hair with thick swept-up sections, dark eyebrows, and brown eyes. He wears a red-and-black jacket with an open front, raised red collar, black shoulder panels, black side panels, red sleeves, red trim, and square strap-like fasteners along the front edges. Under it, he wears a gray T-shirt marked with a split Superman and Batman emblem across the chest. His lower outfit includes fitted black pants with red vertical panels, red knee pads, red side armor-like patches, and black lace-up combat boots with thick soles. He also wears black fingerless gloves with wrist padding.

Personality: Toymaster, real name Hiro Okamura, is a teenage mechanical genius from Japan whose personality is tied closely to his inventions. He is clever, proud of his work, and more socially isolated than he first appears. His loneliness becomes clear when he fakes his own kidnapping by Winslow Schott, leading Superboy and Robin to find him and offer him friendship after realizing what he actually wanted.

His main heroic ties are Superman and Batman. Hiro first crosses paths with Superman while targeting Metallo over material stolen from his grandfather, then later helps Superman and Batman destroy a kryptonite meteor threatening Earth. He also makes a deal with Batman to provide advanced technology, placing him closer to the hero world than to the criminal Toyman legacy connected to Schott.

Toymaster’s main skill is engineering. Hiro Okamura can design, build, repair, and operate advanced machines, especially giant robots and computer systems. His inventions are far more advanced than ordinary toy-themed weapons, with his work often taking the form of powerful mecha built behind a playful appearance. He is also trusted enough to provide technology to Batman after proving himself useful to both Batman and Superman.

His known equipment includes the giant Superman robot he uses against Metallo and the Composite Superman-Batman robot he builds to help stop a kryptonite meteor from destroying Earth. He also works out of the Toymaster Gameshop in later years, using it as a base for his devices and information work. Hiro’s “toys” are not harmless props; they are combat machines, support technology, and specialized tools built by a teenage genius with access to equipment far beyond normal engineering.
