   Keys: alchemist, alchemist*

Alchemists are people who have dedicated themselves to the magic art of alchemy. They have shops or labs in which all kinds of magical substances can be found. Their shops and labs are more common in larger cities, but travelling alchemists can occasionally be found in villages or in the countryside. Becoming an alchemist isn't easy, and their services can be very expensive. Stealing from an alchemist is almost impossible, as they can defend themselves with magic, poisons and potions. Usually, they're smart, cunning, wise and friendly towards their clients. Their magic power is more than enough to repel and subdue anyone who attacks them.

Alchemists can distill all kinds of magical substances into potions. By distilling an item with magical properties into a potion, the alchemist can increase or reduce the effects that said item would have; in addition, if the items can have multiple different effects, a distilled potion can be made so that only one of them manifests, eliminating all side effects. Alchemists can brew counter-potions with magical substances, that have the opposite effect of what those substances normally would (e.g. if an item would increase strenght, the counter-potion makes you weaker). Alchemists can brew potions that can modify someone's body in any way they want, and as much as they want; however, more extreme modifications require higher prices and rarer ingredients.

Alchemists can also act as medics, healing all kinds of wounds and illnesses, although they're not as good as dedicated doctors or healers. They specialize in reversing effects of spells, magic or substances that alter a person's body.

Alchemists are very knowledgeable about magic, chemistry, science and they know everything about most substances. They will gladly give some basic information for free and answer questions, but they may ask for money if advanced information or research is asked.

Alchemists are always looking for more rare substances and ingredients. If you can't afford to pay for their services with money, they will ask you to retrieve a rare material for them as a form of payment instead.
